Re: TOOL Appreciation Thread

I saw them in 09 in Pomona at the fairplex. Maynard had broke his ankle (I think it was broke) anyway, they played an entire set. He was back by the drums leaning on crutches. More like rocking back & forth. Have to say it was one of the best live shows I've ever seen.

I hate the 4 - 6 year wait between new albums... need new Tool! I never knew Adam used a gold top... saw it in "The Pot" vid on the previous page

I don't hate it, but I do skip it on my iPod. Same with the most of the songs lacking vocals.

Don't think it's a gold top. I think it's a natural finish. Probably the same guitar that's referenced in some of the older articles. It's the same guitar that would have come out for Prison Sex during the Undertow tour, or Parabol and Parabola during the Lateralus tour...as those songs use altered tuning from Adam's standard dropped D as well.

Sometimes I do. Triad had a better chance of staying on as does Eon Blue. All depends on my mood. 99% of then time my mood is to hear songs with a singer.

Re: TOOL Appreciation Thread

Eon Blue flows very well into The Patient. I usually listen to those two as one continuous track. Same thing with Disposition -> Reflection -> Triad

Re: TOOL Appreciation Thread

Great idea! I've been meaning to mix a couple of tracks. Particularly Parabol/Parabola. I'm going to try those too, thanks!

There's nothing worse than Parabol ending and the shuffle kicks in!! It's like blue balls.

Not at all. Sounds like a good idea. Especially for someone like me who uses shuffle 100% of the time.

Re: TOOL Appreciation Thread

That happens to me a lot with iPod shuffle. Lost Keys...then shuffle into something else and I'm all ready for Rosetta Stoned. It's like taking a swig of orange juice only to find out it's water...and your pallet was all set.

Re: TOOL Appreciation Thread

I can listen to the earlier albums on shuffle, but the later stuff I listen to the whole album. It needs to heard in sequence.

Re: TOOL Appreciation Thread

I first saw Tool back in '96 in Adelaide, AUS at the Thebarton Theatre. Probably about 3000 people capacity, only cost $26 with Shihad (remember them!).

I was very influenced by a certain substance and when Maynard came out painted in blue during the opening track of the set, Third Eye, I think my head imploded.

What a memory, will never forget the experience and raw power.
