Hah, try sub 400. Thankfully I got a job now and making $$$. What I might need to do is get an A/B box and split it up between the two amps I am using to get enough sound until I can make enough money. But basically I am looking for something for good rock/hard rock songs with some lighter tones for alternative.

I can set you up with a Valve Jr. mini-stack for way sub $400 (when they come in). Thats about the only thing I can hook you up with, without going into Fender Hot Rod territory.

If so the fact that there is only a volume knob kind of scares me, also only 1x12 speaker.

Yeah, thats what I'm talking about.

Your SG has good pick-ups and pots/caps/wiring from Jonesy... So I would imagine it would be able to clean up fairly well even with the VJ.

Under $249

I will beat any GC/mail-order advertised price. If you get a chance, play the head through something with a Vintage-30 in it. I really liked how the VJ sounded through the Orange 1x12.

Right now I'm using a Lopo cab with a Greenback and I know the cab is good, but it's still holding the amp back.

Orange cabs are the bees knees! I'm planning on selling a bit o' gear soon. As soon as I get some scratch together, I'll PM you about a 1x12 cab.

I got the J Mascis Jazzmaster. I saw one in a local store and started GASing for one when I saw the finish - dark purple sparkle and gold pickguard. It looks stunning in person. It never really photographs that well. Great price!

I recently exchanged several messages with Brett about a few guitars on Eddie's site. Unfortunately, I found a guitar here locally here in Canada and didn't end up buying from Brett but his back-and-fourth communications were top class and honest. I recommend this guy.

Yeah, I did a little neck/intonation adjustment on yours I believe. If it ain't right, I make it right.

Sometimes with Fender/Gibson/generally anything that isn't a luthier-made guitar, there is a pretty high likelyhood that the set-up isn't that great. So we try and remedy that before it leaves the shop. Granted, set-ups are just as subjective as everything else in the guitar world, we just just try and set them up how we think they should be.

Definitely. Out of the attenuators that I have experience with (Bad Cat Leash, THD, Z Air-Brake, maybe a couple others) I would say this one definitely holds its own, and it isn't nearly as expensive. If I was running a combo amp, I would have one of these without a doubt.
