Re: Jonesyblues Custom Shop & ToneMojo.com

Tonemojo Update: FYI I just finished up two prototype wiring harness's for SG/LP and have tested both of them in Alice.

The first one is MP Master Phase with one push pull pot in the bridge tone that does phasing when switch is in middle position. You get the Peter Green/Page out of phase tones.

The second rig MSP has two push pulls for tone pots and bridge tone does phase and the neck tone does series between pu's. I love the out of phase/series setting when switch is in middle and both pots are pulled out.

I use 500K CTS for the volume pots in both these rigs, and the large Alpha dpdt pots for tone pots. The good news is that both will work with pu's that have vintage 2 lead wire. 4 conductor wiring is not needed so my Master wiring will work with stock PAF type pu's like Burst buckers, 57' classics, 490's (thats whats in Alice), 496. 498. 500 etc. the epi pu's and any hand wound PAF's with 2 lead wiring.

I have the MSP (Master Series Phase) rig with the 2 push pulls in Alice right now and it is amazing. Can't wait to get some sound clips recorded as soon as I get my other computer set back up.

There will be more info and pricing on my Tonemojo website as soon as I have time to work on it.

Re: Jonesyblues Custom Shop & ToneMojo.com

Thanks H. Yes the phase and series/phase are handy tools to have on stage or in the studio. I am truly amazed at all the Tones I can get out of the 2 push pull rig. I spent 3 hours last night perfecting the ground loop on that Master Series wiring.

Hey Jonesy,

I'm really intrigued by that Strat Blues tune up kit. Do you offer it without the treble bleed kit? Does this make much of a difference in the price you charge?

Thanks,

Hello will,

The bleed kit is an option and sometimes is needed and sometimes not. These ebay items are listed as kits and I can't do much about the price, so I offer Free S&H for you guys. You can always save the volume bleed kit for another project if you don't use it.

I also have some .033 Cornell Dublier caps sold separately if you just want an .033 PIO cap??

Re: Jonesyblues Custom Shop & ToneMojo.com

Which of the two caps do you think sound better? Or, are there many tonal differences between the two caps? You're right about stashing the TB kit till needed. I think the one I have in there now is wired in series (Kinman style). Those little old school pill containers are sweet too!

Re: Jonesyblues Custom Shop & ToneMojo.com

The Blues kit has the .033 Russian paper in oil k-40 cap, very sweet and warm but still crisp. The .033 Cornell Dublier has very similar audio quality's, you may not even be able to tell the difference between the two. There are only subtle variations since they are both .033 and constructed very similar. Your call bro

Thanks Jonesy,

I appreciate your swift answers to my noobious questions. Send me a PM on what you'd charge me for the Cornell with/without shipping.

Re: Jonesyblues Custom Shop & ToneMojo.com

those rigs are VERY tempting.... if the pickups are designed to sound oop a là Peter Green , then I guees the pickups would sound in-phase when the push-pull pot is out...Am I right??

Re: Jonesyblues Custom Shop & ToneMojo.com

Actually when switch is in the middle and bridge tone is pulled out your pu's are "out of phase" nasily thinner oopa sound, when pot is pushed in they sound normal.

When switch is in middle and neck tone is pulled out your pu's go from parallel (stock) to Master series, fatter tone with some bark. If you pull bridge tone out at the same time you have Series/out of phase.

Otherwise this rig functions like normal LP controls.

If your magnet is flipped it will not change the sound because it is magnetically out of phase, magnet would have to be re-installed properly for switching to work.
