Re: Jonesyblues Custom Shop & ToneMojo.com

there's a couple of caps dewlling within my 1980 G&L bass:

one is a 70's PIO Jensen found in an old TV set.. the other one is a Sprague bee cap 0.1 uF from Jonesy. Cool combo.

Re: Jonesyblues Custom Shop & ToneMojo.com

thank you. Those early G&L basses were great. I changed the pots and caps though. Amazing tone now, especially with flatwound strings. Motown mojo galore.

Re: Jonesyblues Custom Shop & ToneMojo.com

Due to so many Allparts orders I am extending the deadline, to tomorrow Friday 12 noon CST.

I have everyone's emails and am going down the list right now, so I will be sending you price quotes and totals as I get time. If I have any questions I will get back. If you need to order anything just PM me or email to jonesyblues@yahoo.com I will be working on orders all night.

Just got out of the shower, and have been swinging a hammer all day. I have been working on the Old Opera house trying to get it "Buttoned up" before the bad weather hits Indiana.

Feel free to call me on my cell 1-574-249-8816 if you need to ask a question about an order, but still easier for me if you also email me parts #'s etc.

Thanks for your support, you Rock!

Ha, mild compared to some of the posts here at MLPF, plus it gives them something to talk about.

Hey Jonesy,

I'm looking to upgrade my wiring and have learned you're the guy to ask. I'm curious what cap values would be good for my LP. I plan to put a coil tap in it as well. I don't care much for a muddy sounding neck pup, but definitely don't want shrill either. Thanks man!

1- best way i can put it is that the pickup position(s) sound markedly different while changing the toggle switch.

for example, the bridge and neck positions are more articulate and identifiable from the other - even when dimed out.

2- best of all, which was the motivation for making the change from stock components is the clarity and distinction of the voicing when the pickups are in the middle position - very happy - mission accomplished.

3- the volume and tone controls are more responsive - instead of setting ballpark/approximations, i can really dial in a variety of tones/voicings.

4- there is no treble bleed when turning the volume(s) down - retaining tone/treble without getting muddy/bassier at lower volumes.

5- for what it is worth, my guitar/amp tech, frank, who i have trusted for several years, first words upon seeing the harness, wiring, and tone caps were, "very sweet" with uncharacteristic emphasis.

results may vary...

this is my experience - good luck with yours :~)

I have been using .01,.015 and .022 in my LP/SG/335 rigs, and just installed a pair of the .01 Vitamin Q's in my SG and really love them, Great Tone, warm and crisp, lot's of useful room on the Tone control from 10-0 they sound great.

Also you may want to play around with wiring configurations, I have the bridge pu on my SG wired modern (slightly more compressed)and the neck pu is wired 50's style (a bit more open).

Tonemojo.com is my website and is what I call, Upgrades to your guitar wiring, CTS pots, paper in oil caps, better braided wire, vintage 50's modern wiring available, open more responsive electronics that let's your guitar sound more natural, clear, warm and expressive.

X-Ray has the vintage long shaft 50's wiring mojo for his 70's LP.

um yeah, that is what i just said, innit?

only jonesy is clearer, more concise and actually makes sense

so, i agree with what jonesy wrote because that describes the sound of the tonemojo modification to my ear :~)

(i only know what i like and how to play 'em - thankfully, there are people like jonesy who not only knows how to play, but also what they are talking about - very unlike myself)
