does anybody else get random shivers/chills/spaz attacks

So I have always gotten a random shiver/chill/cringe once in a while. It only lasts 1-2 seconds but my head kind of turns back and fourth. It's fully automated, I have no control over it. Maybe once a day?

I was sitting next to my friend jamming and it happened, and he was like "wtf, are you okay"?

I asked him if he gets random shivers/chills once in a while and he said no. So I was wondering am I the only one? Do I look like a crazy person?

Sometimes it happens at awful times - when I'm taking a piss is the worst because I'm trying t multitask my aim and still let the shiver come and pass.

Mild tourettes? Or it could be nothing. If you are worried, see a doctor just in case. Maybe keep a log for a couple of weeks to see if there is any particular pattern.

I am not a doctor. I should point that out.

I don't think I need to see a doctor, I've always had it, it's brought no negative side effects, but I guess I'll mention it on my next visit.

Here I am thinking everybody got this at least half as often as me.

Re: does anybody else get random shivers/chills/spaz attacks

Shivers/chills... I get them often enough. The question is whether they are naturally related to the environment or some sort of neurological issue?

I guess my theory is that if I was concerned enough about it to post it in a guitar forum, I would be concerned enough about it to talk to the doctor.

Having said that - my hands shake more than I would like. I keep meaning to ask the doctor about it but never get around to it. It could be that I drink too much coffee, do not get enough sleep - or my brain is wired funny... Who knows... It could be anxiety. It could be Parkinsons! It always seems to have been that way though - so like you I am not overly worried. But I should bring it up next time I am there.

Similar happens to me, though I'm not sure how bad it would be compared to yours. I have noticed that when I get more/better rest, it happens much less. Do you see any similar pattern for yourself?

Sounds like something neurological. Seeing a doctor would be your best choice, otherwise you'd just be guessing as to the reason and waste your energy reassuring yourself that something isn't wrong. The doc could help you find out if it is something or nothing to worry about. If it is a problem, they would be the one that could get you the help you need.

Good luck to you.

Re: does anybody else get random shivers/chills/spaz attacks

I don't think it's environment based. Not like chills from the cold. It's honestly pretty random. It's not like I'm falling to the floor or anything - just my head shakes a bit and I cringe just a bit, all for about 1 second.

I will mention it to my doctor, although I didn't post this out of fear - rather than curiosity.

I haven't noticed if sleep helps it, because it's not very often. Maybe once a day or every other day.

I gave you a thanks for this post. I have had the very same thing my whole life. I was reading to see if you included pissing too. I was the only one that I knew this happened too. This is however not a precurser to Parkinson's. Rest assured.

I get them as well. At one time I saw a neurologist and he put me on a med to cut it down a bit. It did help and I should get back on that.

Re: does anybody else get random shivers/chills/spaz attacks

could have a form of epilepsy called Focal Seizures
i know because i have them, you get chills called (Arua) then muscle twitching (focal siezure)
I would go see your doctor, and talk to him about it.
There are good meds to control them

dont just blow it off

Happens to me all the time. Not the "spaz" part, but I'll get random shivers/chills from time to time. No big deal.
