Re: Yngwie singing & playing the blues WTF
Ya--there's another dude that does a lot of posting on youtube--great metal and rock soloist. Anyway--he posts a supposed "blues" clip where he's basically doing George Lynch metal runs over a blues progression.
![]() That's NOT blues, IMHO. Likewise, Yngwie is a brilliant and gifted guitar player. Playing baroque-rock runs over a I-IV-V progression does not make it blues. ![]() Just my opinion, of course--your mileage may vary. BB

Blues and spandex don't mix!!! That said, it wasn't THAT unpleasant to listen to... Just not blues! I think there's a law against having the blues in spandex...

Re: Yngwie singing & playing the blues WTF
No Disrespect, I just cant get into YJM no matter what I do.... I am a purist I guess. Nothing erks me more than someone to take a classic song and chop it to death with overly fast runs and their own thing... Making a song heavier I'm ok with but leave it basically the same.. Just My .02 worth. Not downing anyone here, just an opinion... Ok carry on....

I have to confess...as much as I can't stand him, of all the shredders, he makes it look the easiest. His hands hardly move, yet he's wailing.

Re: Yngwie singing & playing the blues WTF
He does a cover of Burn with Dio that is AWESOME too.
He's not as one dimensional as people say. He's incredibly fast and that's his style, but he's also got feel which most, if not all shredders AFTER him lost. |
