The “opie And Anthony Show”

CBS RADIO TO CONTINUE BROADCASTING
THE “OPIE AND ANTHONY SHOW”

The three hour morning show featured On WXRK-FM in New York, WBCN-FM in Boston and WKRK-FM in Cleveland will continue on...

It was announced today that the OPIE & ANTHONY SHOW, the No. 1 rated morning drive program among Men 18-49 in New York, will continue to broadcast in morning drive on CBS RADIO stations WXRK-FM in New York, WBCN-FM in Boston and WKRK-FM in Cleveland.

Today’s announcement extends an unprecedented agreement reached in 2006 between CBS RADIO and XM Satellite Radio, which simulcasts the morning drive show and where Gregg “Opie” Hughes and Anthony Cumia also host an exclusive show each weekday from 9:00–11:00 AM, ET for XM’s more than nine millions subscribers.

Hughes and Cumia first teamed up in 1994 hosting an evening program for WBAB-FM in Long Island, N.Y. In early 1995, they moved to WAAF-FM in Worcester, Mass., where they began hosting the “Opie and Anthony Show” in afternoons and became one of the Boston market’s most popular shows. The team left Boston in 1998 and moved to New York’s WNEW-FM, where they became the No. 1 rated program in afternoon drive.

Of the renewed agreement, the duo said, “We are both very excited to be re-signing with CBS RADIO. Hosting morning drive on K-Rock in New York City has been a career highlight, and when you add in WBCN Boston and WKRK Cleveland it makes it even more special and fulfilling. That said... we look forward to our next firing with great anticipation.”

“CBS RADIO is excited to be able to continue this unique partnership with Opie and Anthony,” said Chris Oliviero, VP of Programming for CBS RADIO. “They have accomplished the rare radio feat of not only dominating afternoon drive but now bringing that same level of ratings success to the ultra competitive morning drive slot. We are thrilled to have O&A on our stations.”

I like both O&A and Stern, so I can't wait until the merge.

Jim Norton, however, is the funniest guy evar!

Re: The “opie And Anthony Show”

Bobbo- I'm with you on this one. Haven't listened to Stern since he left free radio, but i always thought his humor was natural and he made it look easy. These other guys work way too hard at being funny and to me it isn't at all. And that Norton guy...I'd rather make a trip to the dentist than to listen to him...
