I'm not going to watch it... I can guess it will threaten my limited view of the universe.

That's an option DJ, I know we're supposed to be made of stardust but boy in the scheme of things it really doesn't amount to much!! And as usual IMHO and YMMV.

If I'm going to have my reality threatened, I like it done through song.

Awesome DJ (in a non bung hole licking way), an equation comes to mind...

Tricky + Lori Anderson + Live 8.0 = C.S. & S.H.

No, no, no! The Earth is only 10 thousand years old and once upon a time it was flooded and at least one pair of every non sea creature was rounded up in a boat to replenish the planet, except for the dinosaurs.

I like that post that someone put up a few weeks ago about the black hole spewing out a new galaxy (many, many light years ago). I content the whole universe is destroyed and reborn infinitely this way.

They wanted to take the dinosaurs, but the Apatosaurs were too big and the Tyrannosaurs kept trying to eat everything/everyone. Don't get me started on those pesky Deinonychus.

The way I envision it is that the Universe is like a lung that expands to a certain point, maybe due to specific galactic gravity, then contracts to almost nothing then expands again, repeating and rinsing infinitely. Just my feeble, uneducated take on the whole thing.

Rick.

So says El_Greco, reporting from a small ante room, direct from Mount Olympus.

We as individual human beings do not make up a very large portion of the universe. But a lot of individuals seem to think the universe revolves around them.

Re: Here's a little something to put all the recent crap in perspective....

Great post

I've read too many books on this stuff...once you get into it it's like taking a nosedive down the rabbit hole and not being able to climb back out! Certainly does put things in perspective as you say! Something comforting about being just a tiny speck of energy in the midst of all that!

It seems like the only people I've met who think about this wacky stuff other than the scientists are those involved in the arts...I think we're on another weird wavelength...not in a stand out of the crowd crazy way, but in a good way!

Thanks Kate and very well said. Agree that those in the arts seem to immerse themselves in things related to this topic.
