Am i stupid for doing this?

alright so the other the day i decided to take my epi pickup covers off my guitar, i took about 3 hours taking them apart and putting them back together, figuring out how everything worked, then i figure the treble pickup had a short, i pretty sure i messed up the coil, my dad helped me do it and he said it was my risk, was i stupid to expierment? i thought it was fun seein how it worked, but my dad seems kind of angry even tho i payed for my guitar, i have 20$ so far because im saving for a new bridge pickup, i feel like shit because of this tho? any of you guys ever screwed something up trying to do something that wasn't really worth it?

No, you are not stupid if you learned something from your experiment. If you learned how things work and will not make the same mistake again, then it's a learning experience. If you knew going into it you could wreck something, then it was a calculated risk. Epi pickups suck anyway, so it gave you a reason to buy a new one!!!

Its a think. You'll make a lot more expensive mistakes in your life, I woudn't sweat $20 bucks. Your dad should show up with a gibson pickup to throw in it.

Re: Am i stupid for doing this?

I have done some dumb things myself always. Like one time I had
this computer with windows 98 in it. I was enjoying this computer
playing my favorite games and I even had a program where you
could write music. One day I was taking out a bunch and deleting
it. I deleted the sound by mistake. It took me about three months
to figure out how to get the sound card working again. Talking
about doing something stupid. That takes the cake. I'm good
at goofing up at something.

I love taking things apart to see how they work... as they say:

"If it ain't broke, you're not trying hard enough"
