Scott Weiland Quits Velvet Revolver?

I just heard on the radio this morning that Scott walked off the stage on Thursday and then I looked it up on the net and found this link below? Anybody else heard this?

when their first single came out, i thought it was cool.. but probably only because i had not seen/heard Slash in a while.. but when an idiot like me can learn a song and solo in 10 minutes, you know you're in trouble

Re: Scott Weiland Quits Velvet Revolver?

No great loss in my eyes. Weiland seemed to be the weak link in that band and I never thought that his voice fit in with those guys. He mixed in the overall sound more like the occasional keyboard than a front man. I think this fact in turn caused the mix of the band (recording-wise anyway) to adapt to him, which made their newer music seem kind of lackluster, compared to their former self.

I think Axl returning would be HUGE. I never did get to see GNR with all the original members, but did see GNR (Axl) with Buckethead about 5-6 years ago and had no idea what to expect. Typically the dude shows up 1 1/2hr. late and the crowd was getting antsy (smart camera guy started scanning the crowd with output to the big screen...wasn't long before the boobies started popping out )

Axl finally hit the stage and was incredible. Better than I expected. He was a commanding presence and his voice that night was killer. No pissy antics or crowd lectures (other than being fashionably late). Hopefully, time has heeled some wounds and age has added some pragmatism. I'd like to see it work.

Look for Weiland to eventually join Van Halen - just kidding.

I smell a poll question coming on: "Who would you like to see front GNR?"

Re: Scott Weiland Quits Velvet Revolver?

As cool as it might be I don't think you will see Axl and Slash on stage togeather anytime soon. I don't think it will ever happen. And even if it did i won't be like the gnr back in the day. The way I understand they split because they couldn't agree on what kind of music to do. Axl wanted one thing and Slash another. Hearing them today it doesn't look like that has changed.

Re: Scott Weiland Quits Velvet Revolver?

theres a whole load on blabbermouth and ultimate guitar about this (replys from matt and scott), apparantly hes had a falling out with Matt (I think about his reintroduction to drugs) and is taking it out on the rest of the band.... sounds like axel part 2 to me...

I like them, seen them a few times when they come to london, but I think his heart is back with STP's now theyre reforming...., shame really

Somebody who knows these dudes line me up with an audition.... I'll do my best! No LSD here... I'm a guitar player first and foremost, so I have GAS more than LSD.

And yea, I guess I'll need someone to look after the Pauls since they won't be needed... You said it first!

Re: Scott Weiland Quits Velvet Revolver?

false alarm....

Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash has dismissed reports that the band will split up following its current European trek.

During the band's March 20 concert in Glasgow, singer Scott Weiland apparently told fans they were "watching something special ... the last tour by Velvet Revolver."

Speaking to BBC Radio 1's Newsbeat, Slash said, "Well, let's put it this way — this is not Velvet Revolver's last tour."

During the same interview, Slash said it is unlikely Velvet Revolver will support Led Zeppelin on a world tour but has stopped short of ruling it out completely.

Rumors linking the two bands emerged last week after Velvet Revolver bassist Duff McKagan said that the band "have" the slot.

But Slash has told Newsbeat the band is concentrating on its next album.

He said: "There's been a huge rumor going around about us opening for them and I think that was something that was taken out of context.

"I think as far as Zeppelin doing a tour, that remains to be seen.

"I saw Robert last night [Saturday, March 22] and he's got his solo thing going on and as far as Velvet Revolver is concerned, we've got another record to do and we're not even thinking about that."

I would rather see a well managed, reformed GnR anyday.
I think Slash has reached the point where he realizes that a
lead singer, is a lead singer, is a lead singer. They all have LSD.
