James Bond...

So, i'm listening to some of the good old James Bond themes and thought i'd see what you guys think were the best films/actors/themes?

I'm a huge fan of James Bond. As a kid i always playing with toy guns pretending to be 007. (I was a kid, what d'ya expect?).

Anyways for me, out of all the films, the one that will always stick with me as a favourite is "Goldeneye". It basically sparked my initial interest in Bond (i was 6), (of course along with the immensely amazing N64 game), and have seen it so many times i can say any line out of the movie on demand

The actors who play Bond, again, i'd say Pierce Brosnan is my favourite, aswell as Roger Moore.

Now for the music. A tough one. I love the Living Daylights theme as much as the Goldeneye theme, but i'd say A View To A Kill is probably one of the best too.

So, discuss, any of you guys fans of the more original bonds? Or the more modern?

Re: James Bond...

Goldeneye was the movie that got me into Bond. I was playing the game on N64 with all my friends around seven or eight years old. I still have that game in my N64 plugged into the TV next to me.

My favorite Bond was Sean Connery, and the first couple movies were the best. Dr. No is my favorite by far.

I'm kinda one foot in one foot out with old vs new... getting a bit deeper into the older films, though.

Re: James Bond...

What gal doesn't love James Bond!

Can't top Sean Connery!

I didn't expect to like Daniel Craig until I saw Casino Royale. Thought he did an excellent job. One of the nice things about the holiday season is they tend to run a lot of Bond marathons on tv. Nice to fall asleep to when nothings on!

Love Cleese as Q too.

Bond, James Bond...nobody said it like Sean Connery did

I played golden eye on 64 when it first came out. The BIG HEAD Mode was always fun

All the James Bond movies were good IMO, I can play a lot of the riffs on my guitar and I liked the Huge guy with the metal teeth as well

I used to play Golden Gun with my buddy and I would always stomp his ass when he had the golden gun. I have never been that great at video games, but when it comes to GoldenEye, I will beat anyone. Shit, I might have to go play that game right now. I haven't touched it in months.

Re: James Bond...

The only BAD Bond was George Lazenby...there have been some cheesy Bond movies over the years, but overall it's been a pretty entertaining bunch of movies. I thought that Peirce Brosnan was a better Bond than even Sean Connery.

You're young aren't you? All the old folks know that Sean Connery is the real James Bond.

Re: James Bond...

connery is james bond, all others are imposters

that latest bond had to have been one of the worst movies ever made. No story what so ever, just went from car chase, to boat chase to plane chase etc etc. Don't get me wrong I love action, but there has to be some kind of purpose behind it.

the loose plot that they did have was god awful as well. Casino Royal was ok though.

Re: James Bond...

My favorite line in a Bond film:

Quote:
BOND: Who are you?

My name is Pussy Galore.

BOND: I must be dreaming.
First time I heard that (on television), I almost fell outta my chair.

Thanks for the Bond girl video, Jonesy!

The hottest Bond women were Ursula Andress from Dr. No and Teri Hatcher in Tomorrow Never Dies. Teri Hatcher is still hot.

Re: James Bond...

Even though tradition dictates that a Bond film should be sung by the great Shirley Bassey, it's hard to top the Goldeneye theme imo. (I've got a certain fondness for it as my band used to play it), and Brosnan was a hell of a Bond in that particular film. However I have to say that I'm a fan of the new ones - Daniel Craig has brought a real grittiness to the role that was lacking. I've been a huge fan of Bond since I was a little boy in the 70's and got the chance to sit in the Lotus Esprit, but until fairly recently I thought Moore was a bit of a poor JB. But then I saw an interview with him and he explained that his more 'campy' approach came about after noticing that Bond was a secret agent who'd go around the world giving his real name whilst on missions.

My band wrote a song that we wanted to be a Bond theme but never knew who to pass it on to. We even had a great Bond-film-type name for it - "Forgiven, Not Forgotten"

My parents took away my N-64. I was 6 also.

I grew up with Brosnan, but Sean Connery is my favorite.

This new guy Daniel Craig disappoints me.

I don't know. I feel like he's brought a better "edge" to him, but he doesn't have the swagger in my opinion that a Bond should have.

The last movie totally did not feel like a Bond movie. More like a shooter.

I'll give you that with the last one but for me, Casino Royale reinvented Bond the way Batman Begins did with that franchise. I think the other Bonds worked in a world where Monte Carlo was the height of sophistication, but that was also a world where Joe Public didn't do much international travelling. Plus, of course, the whole thing WAS getting a bit too formulaic and gadgety. The new Bonds - especially Casino Royale - have been much more character-driven and I think Bond himself now has a bit more of a (much needed) unpredictable edge.

Re: James Bond...

I have to say Roger Craig, for the shear fact that the bond movies were becoming a joke...the 2 new ones are short the many cliche one liners, and have some great acting...plus there weren't any bond girl actors whose profiles would demand more lines or something...

Re: James Bond...

I think you mean he lacks too many cheesy one liners...He isn't exaclty like Connery, but heck, I think Craig does a great job. Definitely the most fit out of the Bonds.

Connery, Goldfinger. I like Craig but he doesn't have the contrast of suave playboy and professional killer.
