'Irregardless.' And when folks outthink themselves and use 'I' where 'me' really is the correct word.

Re: Words in General That You Can't Stand......

'Diary'

If used in replacement of 'diarise' - mostly uttered by people in business that like to sound like they know what they are talking about when in fact they know nothing.

"Oh yes Jean, I will diary that for the weekend"

Grrrr.

Like...when used as:

"Like, it was almost ten feet tall!"

So--was it ten feet tall, almost ten feet tall, or like something else that was ten feet tall...?

Oh--another one: So...as in: "I was like SO pissed off at Johnny when he stood me up, but now it's all hugs."

What????

My mom says that (irregardless) and I hate to hear it. I've tried to correct her but whatever, she's old and won't learn

AH, the ole' double negative. Shows ignorance every time.

A friend of mine had this greeting on his answering machine:
"No one's not home right now. Leave a message"

Yeah, that type of wording doesn't not bug me!

Oh, and I just tire of internet/texting acronyms and shortcuts. YKWIM? WTF! YMMV........

FYI:

From Dictionary.com:

In the 19th century, kudos1 entered English as a singular noun, a transliteration of a Greek singular noun kŷdos meaning “praise or renown.” It was at first used largely in academic circles, but it gained wider currency in the 1920s in journalistic use, particularly in headlines: Playwright receives kudos. Kudos given to track record breakers. Kudos is often used, as in these examples, in contexts that do not clearly indicate whether it is singular or plural; and because it ends in -s, the marker of regular plurals in English, kudos has come to be widely regarded and used as a plural noun meaning “accolades” rather than as a singular mass noun meaning “honor or glory.”
The singular form kudo has been produced from kudos by back formation, the same process that gave us the singular pea from pease, originally both singular and plural, sherry from Xeres (an earlier spelling of the Spanish city Jerez), and cherry from the French singular noun cherise. This singular form has developed the meanings “honor” and “statement of praise, accolade.”
Both the singular form kudo and kudos as a plural are today most common in journalistic writing. Some usage guides warn against using them.

Note--there's also a snack called Kudos...

This is not a word but a prhase. I have "I don't disagree with you". That is basically saying you agree. Why not just say you agree?

Re: Words in General That You Can't Stand......

the term "atm machine"...which when used actually means "automated teller machine MACHINE". Things like that piss me off. Also, when I'm reading something online and someone uses the term "u" or "ur" for "you" and "your" or "you're" It's 2 extra letters and you don't end up looking like a moron.

Oh one more - know the difference betwen "your" and "you're".

Great, now i'm all worked up and angry. Off to work then.
