Barn finds!! Another gem!!!

I don't know about you but if I pass a rickety old shop with the sign half hanging off the wall and a couple of windows boarded up then I have to go in and have a poke around. Same with Garage sales, I can't park up and get in there quick enough, and I have found one or two things worth having over the years.

But the thing I get most excited about are barns. If I happen to find myself alone and unsupervised in a farmyard, well.................

No!!!!!!! Not that!!!!! Barns!!!! Get in there and have a "shuftie" about. I've found all sorts over the years, cars, antiques.........I once found a pair of matching cushion moulded oak dressers that were 17th century and being used as nesting boxes for chickens. OK that was thirty years ago but now they'd be worth as much as a Burst and not the five grand I got for them.

Which brings me to yesterday. I was out with some mates having a little walk around shoot and we called in at the farm for a rest and a bit of lunch. I wandered around like I do, and there inside a grain dryer I found this.........

The only down side is that the rats have made it their home.............

.............1975 Triumph TR6. I've made an offer and I think I own it.

I had a few acquaintances in my youth that owned TR-6s'.

And there is a reason you found it IN-THE-BARN.

Good luck and happy rubbing.

Re: Barn finds!! Another gem!!!

Triumphs are oxcarts! (says any MG owner)

I think I had the same stereo in a Midget once. The same six square buttons. 1980's style where the whole unit slid out, instead of the modern removeable faceplate. Convertibles are radio theft bait.

Alloy wheels are OK. No real serious cancer visible. Do I detect a reasonably modern tread pattern? If so, It hasn't been off the road all that long. I'd take it.

Yeah! Always breaking down. I believe if you throw the Lucas fuel pump away and install a Bosch one then your chances of a nervous breakdown are halved!!!!

I was hoping you'd give it a visual appraisal!!!!

I haven't dare open the hood for fear of what lurks beneath!!!

I owned a V12 Jaguar XJS about 20 years agoo and one year over Christmas holidays a rat stored about 30 apples in a nest between the V of the 12!!!!

I don't know who was more shocked when I opened it up, the rodent or me!

Re: Barn finds!! Another gem!!!

I would like to know which power plant, if you can call it that' it has.
Seems I recall a lot of top end valve lash as well as oiling issues.

If I can make the trip I'd love to spin a few metric wrenches on it with you for a day.

I'm quite handy like that.

Re: Barn finds!! Another gem!!!

Those Triumphs are cool looking little cars. I'm sure there are many things you can do to it now that would make it much more reliable. (There goes AXE being a dick again) Congrats.

I'm going to have to agree with nsureit.
It's probably going to cost allot of $ to get
the steering wheel, pedals, etc. moved over to
the correct side of car

seriously, nice find Cookie
have fun cleaning her up!

Re: Barn finds!! Another gem!!!

Dude thats a sick ride, Congrats!!!!!!

I have a right hand drive Fairlady project sitting in my garage. Thinking about dropping a V-8 into it. The current motor is really buggy it gets spark and fuel but rarely at the same time lol. And we all know everything goes better with V-8!

Re: Barn finds!! Another gem!!!

My main concern is the wiring. I've seen what rats and mice can do to a car and I don't know whether I fancy putting a whole new loom in.
I think I'll do a full appraisal tomorrow, I'll get my Fred-in-a-shed to come and take a look.
