Phil said it best. And to a large degree....no one wants to hear about you, or me, anyway. One thing that's true for men and women...they love to talk about themselves. Hell, I'm not exception.

But when it's at that point, and there ain't no attraction,.....hey, I'd invite anyone to listen to someone's voice rattle on for hours on end.

If there is no attraction full stop, then it's pretty pointless talking or listening for that matter anyway.

Someone mentioned the old "hanging out in groups" approach.
That works when you're younger, but when you are thirtysomething, the groups are usually couples. Sure they have their token "single friend", but in my experience, that friend usually has more issues than Sports Illustrated.

So, when you get slightly older, and the targets get more and more jaded, you're stuck with dating. (or the Spanish Inquistion). Most women in my age group have been burned (repeatedly) and have the living breathing reminders of poor past decisions (yes, their kids). They are determined "not to make the same mistake" so most of the time you (new guy) is subject to a whole new set of hoops to jump through.

I'm not afraid or down on dating. I'm tired of meeting women who need a bellhop for their baggage, have completely unrealistic expectations or who are just packaging. (yes, the days of women should be obscene and not heard are over for me). I've been fortunate enough to date some extremely attractive women, but they kinda had that "entitled" attitude (you know, "I'm hot and men have always done my bidding"). I just want to meet someone I am attracted to that I can have a conversation with. Is that too much too ask?

So if it feels like cross examination, you know it's wrong. It should be effortless. Then you've got something.

I dunno, VB. It's strange. If I'm playing a gig? I'm a motormouth...I'm in "entertainer" mode. Otherwise? Nah, I don't say much.

I'll admit it's kind of weird because I think a lot of women like the "entertainer", but once I'm off the stage, or I'm not gigging...that isn't who I am.
