Re: Playboy magazine

I agree parents should be a little more strict on letting their 14-15 year old girls dress like hoe's, and or super skimpy. All that is doing is attracting the neighborhood perv/pedifile. You ask for trouble, your usually going to get it. IMO

and, I dont fart dust like River, so this is from a fairly young man's point of view. River - no offense ?

None taken. And IMO it also attracts many technically-"legal" young men with raging hormones and partially-formed brains perfectly capable of causing a pregnancy. If you're not fishing, keep your line on the reel.

All of that crap is tacky, like Led Zep Fan said. I also agree with Lazz that parents and adults should allow children to be children for as long as possible. Kids do not fully understand what these icons and logos are conveying.

It is a shift in marketing for the company that might prove to be grow the brand, or at least keep it out of bankruptcy. Before the chessy reality shows, I considered Playboy to be more of a llifestyle magazine that featured and celebrated sexuality and feminine beauty. The magazine was always a cut above the trash.

How many other magazines feature original literary fiction? Not just a selection from a best-selling book, but original short stories. It is a lost art in magazine publishing. I don't know what is in Playboy these days, but the dumb reality shows and the merchandise appeals to a broader and dumber demographic than they were aiming for in past decades.

The fact of the matter is that I really did buy Playboy for articles and the literary fiction. People have tried to call bullshit on me for asserting this in the past, but the simple truth is that a few airbrushed photos was never, ever, enough for me purchase the magazine. Take away the writing and I never would have given it a moment's worth of attention.

Yes Playboy is actually a very good magazine, pictures notwithstanding. In fact the pictures are just icing on the cake.

At what point did pornography become acceptable for kids and is this only a Playboy thing?. You dont see many parents here buying jizz mags for their kids, it just seems a strange phenomenon that makes Playboy mainsteam they even have kids clothes and stuff............discuss
Better not take your kids to the Louvre either. Lots of nudity there. Statues and painting of naked women EVERYWHERE. Also, don't take your kids to church....too much violence.

Playboy is art.

Re: Playboy magazine

The magazine's one thing, the branding and the "reality" show are, IMO, quite another. I similarly see little in common between the "Nat Geo" channel and National Geographic magazine.

I personally lost interest in Playboy when the women all started looking like Plasticene Pam. The women I see on the TV show do absolutely nothing for me. I grew up "reading" magazines like the one below I found stashed in a trunk in the attic, and I don't think they did me any harm. But what do I know?

That's June Wilkinson - major Playboy model. The photos on the inside have a different "ambiance".

Cool There definitely were some lookers.

I have a friend that has porn mags from mid 60's up to now, and it is an awesome study to look through all the different generations

It was about 93 or 94 when the pubes really started getting smaller and smaller and smaller The panties started getting smaller in 88 and have now evolved to what we expect thongs to look like, from a perverts point of view its great from a history point of view its great

Re: Playboy magazine

Well Marge Simpson is one this months cover, so I don't know how this won't attract kids. My Dad gave me all his dirty mags at a young age so I don't see it as a big deal.

I find Playboy a classy magazine. Sure I love Hustler or Penthouse but overall, Playboy is better written and once in a while you will see a celebrity. I was disappointed that Marge Simpson didn't do any nudes. I am waiting for December issue because Chelsea Handler is on the cover.

Re: Playboy magazine

Why is it that these parents will allow thier daughters to wear make-up and dress like hookers (isn't she cute!) at the ripe old age of 13, and when ya look at 'em...... All of the sudden "You're" the perv.???

How the hell was I supposed to know she was 13?...She looked like she was 20!!

Some parents need to get thier heads outta thier asses...

Buying thong panties for your 12 year old is just buying trouble, IMHO.

I remember when I was a kid, there was a girl in my class that I remember sitting around reading Playboy with when we were like 10 years old, turned out we both liked the same thing- girls.

My son recently was checking out news about the death of one of the band mates from Boyzone (UK).
He typed in what he thought was their fan site after reading about it on BBC news online, and he got something completely different!

Use the safe search option.

You know if you turn filters off completely, you can even type your first name in to google images and be guaranteed something 'completely different', as you say...

Re: Playboy magazine

Kids and Playboy? Nah, that's tacky. I used to subscribe to Maxim and read every issue cover to cover. Once my Son got a little older, my wife asked me to not renew. So I had to stop reading my favorite mag so my Son didn't see bewbies in our house. This is one instance where I wish Maxim didn't have pics.
Back to Playboy being porn? Nah, it ain't "porn" unless there's a big toe in each hand and big ol dildo in da butt.

Re: Playboy magazine

Playboy is a good..."training" mag (you don't want to start out with too much, too fast), but as for it being "porn", nah. A LOT of people associate pornography with nudity, but in fact the term "pornography" in general actually refers to prostitution, and penetration (and what do prostitutes and pornstars have in common? They have sex for money!). But parents need to understand that, just because the popular sluts on TV/in mags are wearing (or NOT wearing) this shit, doesn't mean that their kids should be!

In fact, my girlfriend and I were at the mall recently and saw a young girl (who couldn't have been more than 11) wearing a necklace with a HUGE, gold "bunny" hanging from it! It made me sick! For some reason, the parents don't see any problem with it, because it's just a logo...but guess what? So is a swastika, but are they gonna let them (if they so choose) wear one of those out around town? I don't think so!

This is why all these kids/teens are being abducted/raped/worse, because their stupid ass parents either A.) act like their friends, and pretty much let them get away with murder, B.) want them to feel like they can express themselves freely (no matter how they do it), or C.) are too distracted with too much other BS to be able to "monitor" them.

Sorry, it just gets to me when people act so stupid and irresponsible, especially when you see all the crap that's happening on the news lately!

Went through that one last year.
That was a whole lot of not fun. I didnt go
totally ballistic on him, but his mother did.
He was 13 going through puberty, so, I gave
him a get out of jail card w/ a stern lecture.

We went through this a couple years ago with our oldest son. Mom was a little more upset than I was. After she talked to him, which he found more shameful, I think, than actually getting caught, I sat him down and just basically told him that there was nothing wrong with being curious about sex. But I also explained that the girls his age probably weren't going to be into doing many of the things he was seeing in the pictures, and that when the time came, he should be very respectful of boundaries.
