No I checked they call it vintage sunburst my bad. It is a dark dark brown more than black I think.

Yeah I think the tobacco is more brown. I think the back is a brown too with the grain showing through whereas the vintage is black. I could be wrong though.

I don't know but when I googled the tobacco I believe I saw a picture with the back being brown and the vintage's back is black. Either way I definitely like the tobacco better.

Plain top is cheaper too, and you can get a case for it and still its cheaper. The honeyburst plain top and your boyfriend will shit his pants. They are beautiful in person the pic does it no good.

I was at a GC awhile ago and picked up a new one same as mine and about threw it across the store...It was feather light.........They must have some heavy BamBoo over in Korea......

The Epi les paul standard is a great guitar. You get a loy of bang for your buck. I'm partial to the Heritage Cherry Sunburst myself, mine's a real beauty! Tobacco burst is beautiful too. You're a great girlfriend to him buy a gift like that! I like the pick in a jewelry box idea. ZZounds is great! I got my kids musical Christmas gifts from them, no problems. The four pay deal is the best out there. But, If you talk to Kurt Martin ext 1237at Sweetwater he may do the 4 payment plan (tell him Steve sent you, I talked to him), those internet companies are very competetive! I like to play them against each other. I 've used zzounds, music123, american musical, and musician's friend, but I like Sweetwater the best for their customer service, plus you can see the actual guitar as someone else pointed out.

I may have to give Kurt a call. I like that Sweetwater has actual pictures of the guitars rather than the touched up photos on a white background. I find it odd though that Sweetwater is more expensive. Usually all the internet retailers have the same price and they say that you "can't beat this price!"
