Yep, but I don't believe miracles are limited to only "God". I believe we are all capable of preforming a miracle...it's just a matter perspective!

I am a believer that if you are a positive and honest person that good things will come back to you. I also believe the opposite ,negative and dishonesty will bite you in the ass in some way shape or form.I don't believe in coincidence, and I personally don't call them miracles but thats just me. Glad things came through for you Jonesy!

I don't know what I believe.
That is more like it. Miracle implies Divine intervention and why would some people who deserve Divine intervention get it and others not? A miracle is not that a few Jew's lives were spared during the Holocaust, but a Miracle would be ALL of them survived, because that would be fair and just.

So my answer is a resounding NO.

What, exactly, is your definition of a miracle then?

Re: Do You Believe in Miracles???

If we're talking about the strict, traditional meaning of "miracle":

Quote:
A miracle is a perceptible interruption of the laws of nature, such that can be attempted to be explained by divine intervention, and is sometimes associated with a miracle worker.
Then, no. I do not believe in them.

It only says "can be attempted".

Yeah, I believe in them. But I don't believe they're always good.

I do like to hear when good things happen to good people, though, explicable or not. Too often it's the other way 'round.

I think the definition of a miracle is all a matter of perspective. It's not just turning water into wine and parting the red sea.

Just think, if you were a normal person living two, three hundred years ago and someone came up and told you that they could push a button and instantly speak to someone on the other side of the world! Or, they could travel across the Atlantic ocean in only a few hours. They could take someone who is sick and replace their entire heart with a new one and the person would recover and live a healthy life! These are acts only explainable by divine intervention.

These are all things we take for granted today - cell phones, cars, airplanes, transplant surgeries, etc... but think for a minute what they would sound like to someone years ago....absolutely miraculous! Wouldn't it sound like the work of "God" to be able to do some of these amazing things?

Now I am not saying there is no God, or no such thing as as Godly acts or miracles. Not trying to debate religion or tell people not to pray for help/strength/miracles! I'm just saying that we all have minds capable of doing miraculous things. It's all a matter of perspective.

Well, there's my rant for the day

This is more along the idea of "karma" and is what I like to believe.

Re: Do You Believe in Miracles???

There is a good example of a miracle in the news today
a baby stroller with a baby in it fell off the ledge
into an oncoming train,

baby only had a bump on the head

Re: Do You Believe in Miracles???

Not to take anything away from Jonsey, I do not believe in Karma, or Miracles. That baby was LUCKY, and 99.99 time out of 100 that same event would result in disaster. Sometimes it just does not result in disaster, and we all want to assign some kind of Divine meaning to it. We are as superstitious as we ever were.

Re: Do You Believe in Miracles???

All I can say is that I have been going through some really rough times lately, maybe the worst ever in my life. While I was walking home this morning I told God that I needed a miracle in my life today and twenty mins. later I received one.

I am not trying to persuade anyone to believe in God, but I am telling you how I believe He works in my Life. I was actually starting to lose faith the past couple of weeks, but in spite of all the bad things happening I have not stopped praying.

Just wanted to share this with you guys (and gals) and also thank you for your kind words.

Peace, jonesy

Glad to hear things are looking up for you Jonesy!
Call it coincidence, god, or whatever you like, but it's amazing how life can send you a wonderful sign when things are at the worst. I've been there before too.
Best wishes!

The only thing your above statements prove to me is that people 2000 years ago believed in miracles because they didn't understand how things worked.
