This Class has two poll threads, because there are more than 10 entries and a poll is limited to 10. We have no way of keeping you from voting in both threads – please try to keep track yourself.

Polling is now open for the Rock-Original Class.

Please listen to the entries at SoundClick artist: MLP Players' Rally - page with MP3 music downloads which begin with"Rock-Original", and select your favorite.

If you post in this thread, please tell everyone what you like about your favorite. Don’t level criticism at the ones you didn’t select unless it’s 100% constructive and something the member can do something about. Some entrants are beginners and intermediates; we should be glad they entered, and encourage them.

Consider that some recordings are commercial grade while others were made with primitive equipment. Listen carefully to the parts the member contributed by playing. Don’t make public guesses as to which track was entered by which member. This is not a popularity contest.

Please consider nominating an entry you didn't select for "special mention", and why.

Agreed. Kind of has an "epic" vibe to it. Very nicely done!

Voted for number 9. It's a great composition, has a nice arrangement and has a couple of mistakes here and there so you can hear that actual humans are playing.

A computer error erased my post, so I'll have to give a shorter one this time through.

My vote went to #3, but #15 was a good song and the band was tight. I still not sure about the vocals, but aside from lyrics, I didn't judge on vocal performance.

Credit goes to #16 for the recording and use of outside sounds and ambient noises.

I have more notes and listened to every track, but time won't permit elaborate comments.

Again I refuse to vote, but here are my comments

Rock OG #9
Dig the opening crescendo into the song... very tasty... Your song makes me want to drive to the desert at speeds of excess of 100 mph

You can really tell you're singing the lead guitar part, which is such a lost art these days.... quite refreshing

I like how you phrase through the different passages. You have just the right amount of delay to show you're not hiding behind anything

GREAT TONE!!!

I was wondering when I was going to get a face full of WAH-WAH!!! Definitely cured my Jones

You have a nice solid tone, just don't hide it with too much reverb. You have nice chops. Just slow down a little, and allow your soul to do a bit more talking for the guitar.

Nice heavy bass, also the guitar has a nice natural distortion. Wish it could have been longer than 1:18. But still enjoyable nevertheless

Very cool song

.. Wish the vocals were a bit more out front, but the song has a very dark evil side to it

You just made me want to go out and acquire a 70's phase-shifter

I could think of so many vocal lines that would flow over your nice piece of music.... A vocalist dream

A lot of great songs in this category. My absolute favorites are #9 and #11. #9 is an awesome composition but my vote went to #11. That song just took me by the hand and went for a walk with me, telling me a bittersweet story of love and pain.

Some great entries here, and I enjoyed them all. My favorotes were #3 and numbers 8-12. #9 is the best song in the rally to me, and I removed it from consideration for that reason. My vote went to #12 as it was too kick ass not to have a vote.
