Great idea
![]() I've never posted a video so, as a patriot, this is the perfect time to bust out I Am A Banana (yellow Ibby RG470) and do a Vai-esque tribute

"Sky Soldier" 101st Airborne Paratrooper, It really was from the heart, people thought they knew Hendrix but he was alot more complex that people made him out to be. This is from Hendrix's website. "More mundane, but no less relevant, was Hendrix's attitude towards the war. While people presume "Star Spangled Banner" to be defiantly anti-war, it is no such thing; such a notion limits the scope of the piece. Friends were often surprised by Hendrix's pro-war stance on Vietnam. Eric Burdon recalled that when Hendrix arrived in England he spoke fervently about the need for the United States to subdue Chinese Communism before it overtook the world. It is important to remember that Hendrix had been on both sides of the fence, experiencing attitudes toward the war as diametrically opposed to one another as could be. It's not hard to imagine Hendrix thinking less about the hippies congregated at Woodstock than his old friends from the 101st Airborne (many of whom went straight from Fort Campbell to the jungles overseas to witness combat first-hand) Hendrix's own comments about the performance are characteristically understated. Speaking with Dick Cavett several weeks after Woodstock, he said simply, "I'm an American so I played it. They used to make me sing it in school, so it was a flashback," a statement that says more about Hendrix's modesty than the grand sweep of the song. " the war protestors totaly got it wrong about him

Re: Star Spangled Banner Gutiar off?
Quote:
"Hendrix got into trouble with the law twice for riding in stolen cars. He was given a choice between spending two years in prison or joining the Army. Hendrix chose the latter and enlisted on May 31, 1961. After completing boot camp, he was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division and stationed in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. His commanding officers and fellow soldiers considered him to be a sub-par soldier: he slept while on duty, had little regard for regulations, required constant supervision, and showed no skill as a marksman. For these reasons, his commanding officers submitted a request that Hendrix be discharged from the military after he had served only one year. Hendrix did not object when the opportunity to leave arose.[31] Hendrix would later tell reporters that he received a medical discharge after breaking his ankle during his 26th parachute jump. The 2005 biography Room Full of Mirrors by Charles Cross claims that Hendrix faked being homosexual — claiming to have fallen in love with a fellow soldier — in order to be discharged, but has never produced credible evidence to support this contention."

Yes I would rather believe Jimi Hendrix site. It wouldn't be biased would it? The bs you speak of is from those sites. First, learn the facts. Then decide which are true and which are bullshit. These are military records. I guess I won't believe the military records. ![]() Here is 18 pages worth. Jimi's Private Parts - August 3, 2005 If you want truth on the internet, I suggest this site or Snopes.com. You are right the BS on the internet is outrageous. I love how it gets passed on and on as truth. Hell, half the sites you go to keep telling of the ankle break that got him discharged. How many guys get discharged for a broken bone? There was a little more to the story. More Rock and Roll mythology.
