Alright U.S. taxpayers...we're all getting checks for at least $600 by July

That means I expect to see a lot of posts in July from proud owners of new Epi's! I know that's what I'm doing. Heck, with having 3 kids I'll get enough to accessorize it nicely too.

Has that tax rebate been finalized!?!? Is it official?

It would make a dent in ponying up the money for the Gibson Robot Guitar that I've read about. Seems like a real "nice to have" that a little "free money" could compel me ot look further into that guitar.

If you make under $75K/yr for individuals or under $150K/yr for married couples you'll get it. $600 per person plus $300 per kid. For us that's $1800! Of course my wife won't let me keep it all but I'll at least get a guitar out of the deal.

We make less than 1/5 the married cutoff, too bad we won't get 5X the return! Looks like $1,500 for us - thats more bills paid down! My next guitar purchase will be $3-4k, and is probably a ways off. I could go for a new stomp box maybe... I've yet to find a box distortion that I love!

I know what you mean about the distortion pedals. I have a Boss metal zone, boss blues driver, boss super overdrive, Ibanez tube screamer, Big Muff Pi, Metal Muff, mxr zakk wylde overdrive. All of them are just hanging around my music area in the basement and never get used. I've thought about liquidating them all on eBay. My latest amp purchase was a spider valve - Line 6's new all tube amp. The distortion on that is so darn sweet that I haven't used any pedals for a couple of months.

My Laney 1/2 stack has a single channel head w/ an overdrive boost for the gain (if that makes sense), I can switch the boost w/ my foot switch, but there's no good place for me to leave the gain knob that will sound good both dirty and clean... so while I LOVE the onboard distortion, I really can't use it. I have a Metalzone and a MetalMuff - both are nice, neither are perfect. I'm not about to get a different head, so in the mean time, I have an old Boss ME8 effects processor that I've had for 13 years or so that I've written a usable distortion on - and that works "For now." If you come across that perfect pedal, please let me know!

Will do but it seems like no one can ever come up with the perfect pedal. How many times have you said this pedal would be perfect BUT.....For me that's been so many times. That's why I own so many and don't use any of them.

Clearly you have no idea what it is to have children, it ain't nothing.

As for me, I'll be doing the bill paying thing, but I hope maybe I can get a new pickup.....Oh Will, do you think maybe I could get double creams?!!!!!!!

An asinine idea;increases the deficit. Most of the people at the lower end will buy weed, not spend in "the economy".

Agreed it is an asinine move, but if they do it, I'm using it. When does anyone in the government ever do anything intelligent, Republican or Democrat?

The way it looks to me.....We're borrowing 150 billion dollars from China.
A big percentage of the rebates will be spent on Chinese products.
Looks like a win/win situation.....for China.

Sooner or later, we've got to quit living on the backs of our children.
I'd rather do without now.
I'm all for a rebate, if it comes from cuts in the govt budget due to fiscal responsibility and less pork barrel projects.

"An asinine idea;increases the deficit. Most of the people at the lower end will buy weed, not spend in "the economy".

I agree it's an asinine idea...but the comment about the lower end's spending habits is a bit of a generaliztion, don't you think?

I don't have to have children to do the math.

I utilize less yet pay more taxes than people with kids. I don't utilize less public services, yet pay property tax and all kinds of other taxes for things I don't use. I dont have children in the public school, or suck on relief programs. I don't care what kids cost, obvious a lot more than the tax break, but that isn't my problem - thats the parents problem.

Logically, it doesn't makes sense to pay more when you cost less, and its one primary reason the middle class is being sucked dry. We still have in this county more people ridding in the waggon than pushing it, and I'm sick and tired of it.

I see your point and agree to some extent, but in the same breath dont agree with the thats the parents problem. I am a single father of 2, ex wife is worthless, supossed to pay child support but quits her job every time they find her. I work my butt off in the construction business and I have a college education to boot. I choose construction because it pays more than most middle management jobs and I get to work outside, I hate being locked indoors.. To my point, I work hard to raise decent children, pay my taxes etc... But along with just the obvious room and board for them, there are a lot of other costs involved. School functions, Band fees, ROTC fees, trip fees, extra things involved in the schools that cost. I realise we had a choice to have kids, but isn't that part of the American dream, Kids, a house, nice car etc.... As a single father it is very hard to even make ends meet most weeks, most times I dont, I rob peter to pay paul etc... Stay behind on everything, it sucks... I for one will be glad to get the refund, although I dont agree with helping China's economy, there must be a better way to do it. I also understand about the whole being single and paying more thing, been there and done that, it sucked as well. I dont beleive single people should pay more, actually as you stated, they should pay less or in a perfect world, income taxes would be abolished anyway. Money is what started our problems in the first place...

Hey LP Collector, you have more invested in your gear than I made last year, LOL I'm not jelous....

I Agree, I have Four (4) kids ranging from 18-11. 18 yr old plays guitar and I help him with that, My 17 yr old plays inline hockey for the Poudre School District club Almost $1,000. to play a year for 15 weeks, we travel to and from Denver rinks every other week. My daughter LOVES clothes and makeup, My 11 yr old plays Rec. football and hockey (goalie) that equipment was almost $800. ALL in ALL I would not change a thing. It's great to see them develop and grow into responsible adults. MY gas Bill to get them where they need to be is around $400 every two weeks. There school is around 12 miles from where we live the wife takes them and picks them up at here moms house everyday. I Would not change it for the world. I believe that this is the best feeling in the world. ( Other than playing my new LP).

Re: Alright U.S. taxpayers...we're all getting checks for at least $600 by July

My guess is it will be going right back to the IRS, when they raise taxes after the election. Oh, don't kid yourself that will happen.

The "stimulus" refund is a pre election BRIBE.

I do agree with ArchEtech.
I am tired of getting the short end of the stick. I am married with no kids.
But we pay into a system that does not support us. but we support everyone else.

The last bullshit refund we only got $300 for both of us because without kids we are not considered a "family" by our lovely Govt.

I believe they changed the wording of this refund after some complaints on the last one. But I can be sure I am going to get the smallest amount possible.

And as for complaining how hard it is with kids... Really? It is pretty common knowledge by most people that having kids is a financial burden as well as an emotional, and physical one. Was this something that became a surprise after having them?
You made the decision to have kids, and all that goes with it.
It is not societies problem to support others who made decisions that cause them a financial burden.

There is a reason I don't have kids, and if I did I wouldn't complain about how hard it is. That difficulty would be considered before reproducing.

I do believe that the children are the parents problem. It was their choice to have them, not mine.

And my problems are no one elses as well.

What is America now a socialist country?

This is not meant to be an attack on anyone, just a glimpse of my demented perspective.

Re: Alright U.S. taxpayers...we're all getting checks for at least $600 by July

I see your point, and my kids are not a burden. I know we had a choice, unfortunately when we had kids the economy was in great shape, times were good. These days it is total shit. I however don't feel you or any other single individual is supporting me. I get nothing more in this world than my paycheck and a refund at the end of the year of almost what I paid in, most times in good years I end up paying, even with kids... So don't take this the wrong way but you are not supporting me.......

There is a lot wrong with the current system and it will never be fixed as long as the greedy bastards on capital hill are being bought by every entity under the sun. I wont even get started on that. Has anyone ever read the tax code? No where in it does it say by law you have to pay taxes, it is supposed to be a voluntary system. But I can promise you if you don't pay your taxes they will voluntarily haul your ass to jail.

All the politicians need to be booted out and let the people have control over the government, or at least let the people have the biggest say in whats what there......

ARRRGH, let me get out of this, politics are the worst things in the world to try and discuss and not argue over, that and religion.. Later dudes..........

That just ain't right. Sorry to hear. Just another way the Government screws the vets. You give them your best, you break and they spit you out and lose you in paperwork. Not right at all.

Everything listed are things people do not need for survival. If you can afford to send your kids out of town to play hockey, and pay $800 for equipment, I'm sorry you don't need a tax refund.....clothes and makeup give me a break. Sorry this is the whole problem.

We have people bitching about being broke and poor and not making ends meet, they want free health care, or health care breaks for their kids, yet they have 2 cars, 3 tv's with cable, an Xbox, a 3 bedroom house, and every family member has cell phones..

If you are on welfare you shouldn't be allowed to have a god damn cell phone. Doesn't anyone else see the problem when I walk into a grocery store seeing a person buying $100 in groceries, while talking on a $300 pocket PC phone, and continue watching as they go step into a late model SUV. GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!!!?? Then throw in that 1/3 of the time, its a 3rd generation immigrant that I can't even have a conversation with because they don't speak English. It is completely out of control.

I'm sorry but you are not entitled to that lifestyle if you can't put food on the table, or pay for doctor bills. You make sacrifices.

I don't have a problem helping people out who really need it, I do have compassion, but I will be damned if I support paying healthcare costs or anything for a family making over 50k with the above NON-LIFESUPPORTING overspending habits.

I shouldn't have to pay more taxes, to maintain bad habits and poor budgeting... like I said.. more people sitting in the wagon than pushing it.

As for fathers and single parents and those struggling from divorces and bad luck - that sucks but the beauty of living in the US is you won't starve while you build yourself back up, but there are still people worse off than you believe me I've seen it. Go to Mexico, Jamaica, or Africa and see real poverty. You can't even steal food in some part of the world because there isn't any. I don't have a problem with temporary kick back, or tax breaks for people who really need it. I have a problem with baby factories, anchor births, and expecting me to subsidize people with bad priorities, entitlement complex, and thinking they have it even close to bad living in the United States.

I'm sorry for the rant, but I am so angry about this stuff.

AAAhhh, you cleared that up for me. I am 100% in agreement with everything you said. I am in the single parent bracket and it does suck, but you are dead right, there are people worse off than I am for sure. I refuse to take a handout from anyone and my kids know it. I tell them if they have a need for something I cant afford, they don't get it cuz they know I sure as hell ain't gonna ask for someone to give it to me. Sure I feel bad about it but I still can hold my head up and say nobody gave me anything, if I have it, I earned it on my own....

LP collector, I hear ya bro, I have been there myself, only for a short period, but I do know where you are coming from. I do wish I could work 70 hors a week but in my line of work the hours are few and far between in the winter, summer is good though.

Cold Steel- I am really pissed of about the Vets not getting anything, that is just not right. Our govt let you guys lay down your life for them and nothing for you in return. I have voiced my opinion about just this very thing to my congressman over and over, there seems to be some small movement for getting some help for mental health issues for our vets but if our Govt holds true to form, it will be an eternity before any real action is taken. Our soldiers are held in very high regard with me so I am with you in that regard. I live in a military town, the tidewater area so I am around the military all the time.

Besides what the hell do they think 600.00 is gonna do anyway. Pay a bill or 2 for me is all, not like thats gonna jump start the economy. On the other hand why the hell do they think giving cooperate America a big tax is gonna help anything. All I have ever seen cooperate America do is say thanks for the handout and keep right on doing as the always have, actually they raise their prices even more and the tax break is just a perk to them. It's a mess for sure but rewarding the mega rich with tax breaks isn't going to make them give one more of a dam about cutting lower and middle class a price break on anything, I have never understood it and never will.

Look at cable companies, they pleaded to not be regulated anymore so it would actually lower prices and be more competition in the market, have you ever seen your cable bill decline since the de-regulation, HELL NO!!! theres my point.

The power industry is deregulated where I am and all the rates do is go up. Same for the phone company. I'm not falling for any of that "deregulation is the best way " Stuff any more. It is just doublespeak from the wealthy, whom I have no ill will against, but I want the truth, not disguised metaphors for raising prices!

I think handouts are different than "entitlements" and unemployment compensation. Anyone who refuses unemployment compensation in todays USA is silly. We all put into that system to help us when we inevitably need help. Few life long careers anymore. Likely we all well have to retrain for another occupation, or two, or thee in our working life. No gold watches at the end any more that's for sure.

Yeah all the $600.00 is trying to do is buy your vote for the Bozo's in charge of the government. It will work on some folks, that's a proven fact, or it would not be done.

They could care less about us all the rest of their term. We are sheep to them. They should fear us, not us fearing them.

Oh well. That is the political process, if you cannot sway a voter, buy a voter.
