Re: General Electric And..... HealthCare Reform???

I would rather see GE profit from innovations in healthcare, and movement with the government on that front, than Halliburton profit from our unlawful invasion of IRAQ and the 4,000 unnecessary dead soldiers and the cost of that war, any day of the week.

Re: General Electric And..... HealthCare Reform???

GE makes deals with Iran, they don't deserve to profit off of anything...

Re: General Electric And..... HealthCare Reform???

GE is fully in bed with the current government. Have you ever watched NBC or MSNBC? (owned by GE) They can say nothing bad about the current administration. I wonder why...

Re: General Electric And..... HealthCare Reform???

It seems that they are ALL guilty:

"General Electric said Wednesday it will stop accepting new orders for business in Iran. The announcement comes just days after Halliburton said it will wind down its operations there.

"We're seeing a turnaround by a number of U.S. companies operating in Iran," said Dan Katz, chief counsel to U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg. Last year, the New Jersey Democrat accused Jeffrey Immelt's company and other American businesses of collecting "blood money" by doing business with countries the United States says sponsors terrorism.

Current the U.S. government bars American firms from doing business with nations deemed sponsors of terrorism. But it does not specifically bar their foreign units from such dealings, and Lautenberg and New York City comptroller William Thompson have singled out GE, Halliburton and ConocoPhillips for exploiting that. A GE spokesman said the company's activities in Iran "are fully compliant with U.S. law."

Immelt: GE Follows Halliburton, Ends New Business In Iran - Forbes.com

".....GE announced in 2005 that it would accept no new business in Iran and would wind down existing contracts, which mostly involved sales of oil, gas and energy and health-care equipment. The remaining work, valued at less than $50 million, amounts to less than .01 percent of GE's income, and the company says the final four contracts will expire within weeks."
