computer help

I have a dell inspiron 1525 laptop with vista windows.
Heres the issue:
When typing in either a forum, you tube,ot other typing area or box,I'll be typing a sentence and all on its own,the cursor ,in the middle of a sentcence, will by itself move to middle of a previously typed sentence.I'll notice it,go back and correct it.Begin typing again, only to have it reocur over and over.It drives me crazy and I have no idea why it does this over and over on its own all the time.It did not do this when I first received the computer. It must have changed some setting some place during an update for windows or something. Is there a setting somewhere on the computer to correct this or what would be causing this?
Thanks

Re: computer help

Is it definately a problem with the laptop or operating system? Does it only happen in internet browsers? Or does it happen when you type into a Notepad file etc?

If it only happens in your internet browser then try resetting everything to default or even re-installing it.

If it happens anywhere on your desktop, then it must be either another operating system problem or problem with your keyboard drivers. There isn't an option for this kind of thing to happen so it must be a software fault.

Do you have a driver disc with your laptop? Try reinstalling the laptop drivers again and see if it sorts the problem. If not, it must be down to a small fault in your operating system. In this case, try restoring it back to an earlier date [Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore].

Hope this helps!

Re: computer help

Do you start typing before the page has finished loading? If you do that, it's going to move your cursor once it finishes loading. I hate that shit! Gotta wait for the page to load first.

Re: computer help

"Overwriting", in computer terms, basically means that files aren't deleted before they are installed, and they are simply just installed "over the top" of the existing files. If you are re-installing, then it is ok to "overwrite" the files. This should correct any files which became corrupt/faulty.

In another case, if you don't want to overwrite the files, un-install the software first, which will delete the files. And then when you re-install/install the software, it will create new files instead, again, fixing any faults which may have occurred.

Re: computer help

My guess is that you are using IE8... there was a problem with text overwriting. I will try and find the article.

EDIT:

"IE 8 is terrible and/or premature.
Less than 10% of the sites I visit display properly.
Things like text overwriting itself, jpg's covering up text, etc, etc, etc.
Need to clink "compatability" view on almost every web page visited."

Still looking for a tech source and cure.

Re: computer help

Any series of IE is hideous, and riddled with holes Firefox and Safari are far superior, imho.

This guy had a similar problem. Maybe his solution will help:

Re: computer help

Sounds to me like the touch-pad mouse control is move from the keyboard typing vibrations.
