One of those days.

Ok once and a while I get down on myself and today is one of those days. So here is my vent post..

I've been playing or hacking the guitar since 89' and I just cant' believe how much I can't play. I play/practice at least 4 - 6 hours a day when I'm home. I can't hold a rhythm to save my life.. My solo's sound like I screwing a cat dry. The pieces I practice don't stick into memory. For example I practice running through this version of Wilhelm Tell.. I've been practicing this for over a year and I just can't memorize it.. so when I go play it I have to have the tab up.... I try and try and try.. I have a list of guitar websites, books and videos to improve myself.. I just can't unlock it.. I love playing guitar.. or maybe it just a habit because I've been at it so long.

Ok I'm done venting for now.

Here is another simple tab that I can't memorize.... or even figure out on my own..

Re: One of those days.

whenever im in a shitty mood CCR makes me feel better.... things are going to be alright brother. this song always dose it for me.... it kinda starts out gloomy but it gets a bit of strength, then it really picks up and you cant help but feel a bit of strength in yourself as well.

Re: One of those days.

I feel ya man, I really do. I gave up for years because I wasn't as good as I wanted to be after practicing for ever. I finally decided to pick it back up a couple years ago and pull my old green Les Paul out of the closet and go buy an amp. I realized that it doesn't matter if I'm not a John Mayer or (on the other side of the spectrum) EVH. These guys were obviously born with it. I wasn't but it's still fun.
We have to work twice as hard as someone that was born with perfect pitch and a killer memory. My wife's friend (our neighbor) told my wife the other day that she would bet her license that I'm A.D.D. I am actually considering going to a professional to see if that's my problem with a lot of things and I was thinking, "what if that's my problem with the guitar". Anyway, if you enjoy it, please stay with it. Who knows, you may wake up one day and everything may just come together like a puzzle. Good luck.

Jomo, i have ADD... a LOT of musicians do lol... i can assess you quickly... do you find it hard to finish projects before starting another project? when your working on something is it easy for something else to catch your eye and you forget about what you set out to do? do you tap your fingers, drum on tables a lot, tap your foot? do you channel surf constantly, change the radio channel a lot as well... do you find yourself zoning out a lot when you drive, (passing your turn because you head was somewhere else) those a a few key signs lol... look in the yellow pages though, im sure there is somewhere you can get tested...
