Re: Floyd rose

One takes 7 hours to set up, the other takes 6.5.

Re: Floyd rose

From what I know, the original are pretty much the best, where as a lot of the cheap licensed trems are terrible. Before I replaced my Js100's trem it went out of tune all the time and even touching the bar would get it out of tune.

Oh and licensed means that the Floyd Rose brand isn't actually making them. So they aren't coming from Germany, most are from China, depends on the guitar's price mostly.

Maybe for someone with down syndrome

Theres the original floyd rose, licensed floyd rose, & the Ibanez Edge series.. The OFR is made in Germany by Schaller, & there are also Schaller licensed Floyds that are just as good.. Some Kahlers say Licensed by Floyd Rose, & they're just as good. I don't have any Ibanez Edge experiences.. There are some other licensed models but those are all I know off hand,

Re: Floyd rose

They do take a while to set up, though...

The OFR is, as 73roadrunner stated above, the original and best. Some of the non-originals can be great, but I've had the pleasure of meeting some which are impressively rubbish. They are all, by and large, the same, but the OFR and Schaller are made of much better stuff and you can hear the difference (says I). Some of the Lic by Floyd Roses are different sizes, too.

However, the OFR is eyewateringly expensive, and some of the copies can be under a third of the price. Upgrade the sustain block and you may find that not only are you saving a packet, your FR may be better than the original!

Saying that, for my last project, I bought an OFR. I chose it because I wanted to have a high-quality guitar, not one built to a price level, and so justifying the cost was not important to me.

There is not much of a difference in look but how high quality the metal used is which the high quality steel is more durable (most licenced and Ping manufactured floyds use low quality steel and then strings make grooves in the saddles and effecting tuning stability), I don't own a floyd myself but reading around other forums I hear stuff like this.
