What would you guys say?

Im going to buy either one, 1957 Les Paul Goldtop Darkback VOS or a Goldtop Standard.... im leaning towards 1957 Les Paul Goldtop Darkback VOS because of the weight, finish, and i like the black back, but im wondering if there are any flaws with the 1957 Les Paul Goldtop Darkback VOS, or weither i should just buy a standard and why. thanks

Also, if i was to buy one online, how do i tell the date it was made? thanks.~

Re: What would you guys say?

I think that you cannot truly judge a guitar...ANY GUITAR,until you have played it.
that being said,YES,I have bought instruments off of the 'net, without playing them first, and so far I have been mostly lucky
but if you are dropping that kind of coin on a new Gibson,I really think that you should track the models you seek down and play them first.
buy one you have physically played, and still like
after all,you want proper bang for your buck.

Re: What would you guys say?

cheaper online might mean you buy a turkey
whereupon you will have to return it and wait on shipment of a replacement....
If you have that kind of patience, more power to you brother

Re: What would you guys say?

Than you take the chance of it being damaged or worst. I just got a this in the mail today

And I may have to send it back. There's a small crack on the neck and I cant tell if its in the polly or the wood. So im having my luthier look at it tomorrow. My point is if I were to see the one I got at a shop I would not have bought it because of the crack. So you take your chances. Not to mention your goingto spend 10X what I paid for that man.
