we made it out

I don't know how many of you have seen my little county in the news lately, but southwest Washington state recently got slammed with a flood. I ended up saving the wife, the cat, the cars, and 2 suitcases of clothes. The guitars and amps were up in the attic since Thanksgiving, so they were spared. Here's a few shots....

Re: we made it out

Glad your ok & please keep us posted ( pix too) weird thing happened here this past weekend. We had rushed off to a early morning basketball game for our youngest daughter & on the way my wife became alarmed not sure if she had turned the burner off on the stove. We tried for 1 & 1/2 hours constantly calling home to wake the two older children to check , finally relying on a neighbour several houses away .As you can imagine my wife was in tears with worry . Upon returning home late afternoon we saw the streets filled with fire trucks.....The neighbours house had nearly burnt to the ground

Sorry to hear about the flood, but happy to hear your gear is safe. Did you have flood insurance?

Re: we made it out

Oh wow... sorry to hear about the flood, lucky you had your gear up in the loft!
Do you get much flooding in Washington state? I know it has a similar climate to Ireland here with the rain and all that but wow that is a serious flood...

Glad you folks got out safe and no electrical fires, etc. Hopefully insurance kicks in properly.
Good luck with it all. This is some serious stuff.

Re: we made it out

Thank you to everyone for your support. This past weekend was amazing. This entire area was "flooded" with volunteers over the weekend, and Angie & I had about 30 folks helping us. In two days, we had the house & garage gutted and got the box fans going. The FEMA inspector showed up yesterday for the his walk-thru assessment, so we have the ball rolling as far as that stuff goes. We're basically starting over from scratch. Everything the water touched has to be replaced...appliances, cabinets, walls, furniture, etc. I hope that none of you ever have to go through this. On the outskirts of the county, I know of a farmer that had to shoot all 140 head of his dairy cows. With each dairy cow worth about $5k, you can do the math. It's going to take a long time for this place to heal from this wound. Until next time, all of you take care.
