Re: Now answering computer related questions.

Oh and hemply my DOS isnt great mainly because It was a little before my time. You can make a DOS boot disc in Windows by inserting a floppy and right click Format it is pretty straight forward from there. Also if that doesnt work you could try a program like freeDOS I have never used it but it might work.

Re: Now answering computer related questions.

How old are we talking. I use linux on some very old laptops and it runs great. The other thing you could do is reinstall the old operating system that is on it currently. Things to do with an old computer « Motho ke motho ka botho I have seen longer and better lists so if you dont find something in that list GOOGLE it.

P.S. I am going to sleep soon so ask away all night long and i will answer all of your questions in the morning

Its not a dinosaur, only about 6 years old. I have reset to factory defaults about three times, only works temporarily. I will try the link.

Thanks for the help!

Defrag is automatic in Vista unless you turn it off. You don't have to do anything. Ever notice the disc making all kinds of noise while you are doing nothing?

Anything BUT Mcafee or Norton. Try Nod32. It's what I recommend to all my customers. Uses very little of the system resources.

I actually had a stock broker call me about his 'cup holder' not working back in 1998.

It was decades ahead of its time and I was real upset when IBM withdrew support for it. It was a true multitasking graphical OS that ran rings around Windows, Linux wasn't even viable back then. Great OS.

Re: Now answering computer related questions.

I have a question.......After trying Linux why go back to windoze?

Here's the answer: Only for recording since the open source community isn't quite there yet......

I know I've tried.....I use Linux for almost everything but I've had miserable luck with audio recording so I have to dual boot and jump over to Windoze XP pro for my recording needs....it sucks....maybe 64Studio will get it's act together soon and work properly......

Another Question Tux fan....which Distro do you use...I've been loyal to ubuntu for about 3 years now....

I'm kinda techno-freak too.. lol
Used to use Linux.. but when I got alot of photoshop requests I get irritated restarting and also I need windowze for recording(wanted a mac but i'd rather spend my $$ on guitar gears).. so I sticked with windoze for awhile.. but still booting up my linux form time to time..

McAfee is bad.. really bad. If you don't want to use linux(which I recommend you to do so..) try Eset's NOD32.

Tux I hope you don't mind me answering questions on your thread?

No please do. I use opensuse. I have tried others but i just really like suse. I am a super geek for my age so I cant really help not talking about computers. Unfortunately the first computer i built (when i was like 7 or 8) ran windows 98 luckily it only ran for about 3 days before dying. Ok i will make a social group if you want. Should it be Invite only, Public, or moderated? That way we can discuss stuff we like and we can use this thread to answer questions.

Sorry about bashing OS/2 geochemist it was a little before my time as well.
