Stupid Ice!!
We had a nice little ice storm here today. I have mostly oak trees and they hold up pretty well but I also have a huge pine tree. It iced up too much and a huge limb broke off and pulled my power line down and ripped the hood and the pipe that contains the wires that runs down to the meter completely off the house. The meter is pulled loose at the top. I still have power but it surged pretty good and knocked out my TV. It has a Monster surge protector which was blinking "abnormal voltage". I haven't tried to turn it on yet because there are still surges so I'm waiting for the power company to get here and fix everything. I am going to be really ticked if it's fried. Luckily nobody got hurt. My youngest daughter and I just got home and walked under it. When I closed the door I heard a noise and saw a flash through the window in the door and opened the door back up and saw the line on the ground and all the damage. Literally seconds away from possible catastrophe.

Re: Stupid Ice!!
We had a little ice in Dallas, but apparently enough to cause treelimbs to fall on a few power lines. Our power was out for 30 minutes in far north Dallas.

Re: Stupid Ice!!
bad deal, glad nobody got hurt.
Ice storms suck, went through a bunch of them in the late 70's in Missouri. you can somewhat control your vehicle on snow, (IMO) but, ice, nope, gravity takes you wherever it wants. And no Dennis, it doesnt matter how many cinder blocks you put in the back of your truck

Re: Stupid Ice!!
Power company came out right after I posted this yesterday and cut the line to the house so we were without power all night. Had to spend the night at my folks house. We had to have an electrician come today and re-wire everything outside at the meter box and connect stuff back up to the house. Everything back up and running now and fortunately nothing was damage by the power surge except a protector that was on my son's electronics. I'm happy now and breathing easier knowing I'm not going to have to go out and replace a bunch of stuff.
