Les Paul Girl of the Week
![]() Congrats to Alih Jey for being the first Les Paul Girl of the Week!! I got to ask her some questions and she was kind enough to answer them, so here it goes: Tell us about your musical experience I've been doing music since before I was in my mom's womb in some other lifetime when I was a squirrel! In this lifetime, I learned how to do harmony at three years old with my two older sisters because they would force me too, actually. But music has always come naturally to me, since my whole family are musicians, and when I started writing songs I was sure I wanted to pursue it professionally. What would you like people to know about your band? Website? You can check us out at www.myspace.com/alihjey or Alih Jey Official Site . We just wanna rock it out and get frilly underwear thrown at us on stage. It's just fun to play, we don't care about fitting into any particular style or mold. Who are your biggest musical influences? The Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Smiths, P.J Harvey, Rufus Wainwright, Janis Joplin, Radiohead, U2, Coldplay, The Killers, Soda Stereo, Fito Paez, Julieta Venegas, The Pretenders, Blondie, Nirvana, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, The Police, Sylvio Rodriguez, Juan Luis Guerra... What do you love most about your Les Paul/SG? It looks like a girl my man and I know.. and it looks beautiful and sounds "fierce". Funniest thing that happened to you on the road, stage or backstage? My Les Paul fell off while I was playing. Where do you see yourself a few years from now? Working at Pizza Hut. Actually, I just prefer to have no plan and to do what I love till' I die, whether I have lots of fame and fortune or none. By the way, I'm honored to be the LesPaul girl of the week, it means I'm cool. Yay! You can learn more about her by visiting her MySpace profile at www.myspace.com/alihjey

Re: Les Paul Girl of the Week - 4/1/07
I'd be quite happy locked in a room with Alih Jey and Joss Stone for company.

Hey Guys! Thanks for checking out my interview. I want to write a song for each of you for those messages you left me. Joss Stone? I'll think about it. Les Paul rocks.

Alih, thanks for the interview. Something that's missing from most rock these days is the connection between the artists and the listeners. Thanks for doing your part to restore it.

Already read it before I started this, am I missing something? I started a new thread so as not to interfere with Alih's. Glad to have her here, too!

No problem, guy!
Sometimes info doesn't come across well on these darn forums!Alex: I saw that too, now THAT'S rock'n roll!! I'm really starting to become intrigued with those Les Paul Goddess models, too, I don't care if it's supposed to be a girl guitar. Looks to me like the modding possibilities are endless! |

The title of this thread gave me a great idea for a response, but Abby'd kick my ass if I posted it.

Les Paul Girl of the Week #3 - 4/16/07
![]() Congrats to Layla from China for making Les Paul Girl of the Week #3! Here's the interview: Tell us about your musical experience I like music a lot since I was young. When I was in middle school, I liked rock music very much. When I got a new guitar on my 20th birthday, I started to learn guitar. I also can play Pipa (a kind of Chinese stringed instrument). I've learned a little piano in college and tried to write songs. At the same time I played in some rock bands as a guitarist and singer. However, I wanted an all girl band, so a new all girl band was found in 2001. I named it ROCOCO, and a new vocal joined us in March 2004. Within the next two years, Rococo brought hundreds of performances to audiences in Wuhan. In December 2004, we released our first 4 songs Demo. On June 2005, we released its first 5 songs EP in Beijing. On August 2005, we toured many cities such as Shanghai, Nanjing, Changsha, Shenzhen and Hongkong. ROCOCO also received postive comments from many other bands and professional musicians. Last year, we finished our album's recording. Who are your biggest musical influences? Angus Young is my favorite guitarist. AC/DC is my favourite band. What do you love most about your Les Paul/SG? Amazing sound and good looking. What do you like most about touring? I can meet different kind of people on the road and see different places in the world. Also you can eat many kind of delicious food in different places I also like sharing the stage with differnt rock bands which is great! For more info, check out her MySpace profile at www.myspace.com/5093879 |
