cellphone upgrade. iphone, blackjack, blackberry?

My contract is up for renewal. Been using a Motorola Sliver for 2 years. Great little phone, no problems. But time for something new. Not sure if its worth it for me personally to shell out for the iphone, especially when I can get a BlackJack2 or Blackberry Curve (amongst other models) for free with the upgrade.

Reliable phone with a qwerty keyboard is about all I'm looking for. They all have cameras and mp3 players.

You're in my ball park, I'm in the industry (back bone, billing signalling sms etc)...LOL..I say this..The Iphone is awesome! I'd love to have one! Flat out! But, is it worth the 30 on top of the extra packages you need? You can get an Iclone which is pretty awesome for less and not need the extra packages... it all depends on what you need! Do you need key board? do you sms that much? I know I can sms without looking while driving with my bag phone LOL..

The cost to have the blackberry's is not as much, but you stil lneed the extra package... I will say this, looks like your at&t, they have some new phones that just came out that also have wifi along with the qwerty and # pad.

Also, if your willing to go off the beatin path there are a boat load of better phones than these, if your willing to pay...

Also, as I said, there a ton of phones from china that are just awesome that are not known here in the US and the best phones you can get are overseas.. the us is 4 years behind the times when it comes to telephone technology..hell we're JUST starting to digital.. LOL

iPhone.

I used to lust after every new phone, PDA, gadget that came on the market. I got my iPhone and haven't looked at another device. It may not be a "workhorse" or "power user" device, but it suits my needs perfectly.

That, and there's a supposedly VERY accurate guitar tuner/chord reference/metronome program for it. I'm going to check that out soon.

We just moved our phone service from Verizon to AT&T, and I got a Pantech Duo. Pretty cool - it's got a regular keypad for dialing and a QWERTY, depending on how you open it.

Shoot the damn thing!
I thought pager's were bad in the 90's.
At least they were easy to ignore. And worked pretty darn good as alarm clocks!

I'd toss my cell in the Pacific if I had my way.
No privacy, no "getting away" my flipping cell rings off the hook and I hate it.

I do realize they are very helpful to people that need to check e-mails, send e-mails,
check the web, etc. for work when on the move.
IMO - if I'm not at work, I really dont want to hear about work.

Granted, if I owned my own biz, I'm sure my opinion would differ.

I have my own business and need to check up on things every once in a wile when away from the office.

But only 2 or 3 of my best clients have my cell number. If I'm away from work and get a call on my cell, it's either friends, family or the top of my client list.

The rest of 'em can get me on my land line or leave a voicemail.

Re: cellphone upgrade. iphone, blackjack, blackberry?

I just have a regular Motorola V something or another. As long as it can make a phone call, that's all I use it for. Never ever played a game on it. Never ever down loaded any songs on it. I do use the camera in it sometimes though.
Hey! I'm an old fart. What do expect?

What's all this cell phone business.. They are mobile phones...

Re: cellphone upgrade. iphone, blackjack, blackberry?

said to hell with it and got an LG Vu. They told me it was sort of like the poor mans iphone. Its small and lightweight, has a touchscreen, and come with a stereo headset. I got 30 days to play with, I'll know in a week or less if I'd rather the blackjack or blackberry.
