Re: What problems have you had to overcome

Getting clean and sober in 2005 was the key for me. Saved my life, and I am now 10 times the musician that I used to be.

Not working so much and playing more. If I didn't have a job and college I'd definitely be better.

Such is life!

Re: What problems have you had to overcome

true for the above (same here)...but, what have you had to overcome inside yourself...like, for example, wanting to be competitive so ending up playing really fast with out much musicallity (not saying that playing fast is bad)....like, after someone saying that you sucked learning to belive in yourself

these type of things...THE INNER BATTLE....

Re: What problems have you had to overcome

Admiting that I was powerless over alcohol, that I had the disease of alcholism and i needed treatment. i quit drinking after many many many years of drinking nearly everyday... ive suffered a lot of consiquences for the drinking i did. i was in denial for a while when i started getting bad... id also drink with other alcholics, that way i could say, hey i dont drink anymore than them, so its normal right? lol, you come up with all kinds or rationalizations.... eventually you have to hit a bottom. but once you get your head clear and learn that you can take it just one day at a time life will be ok.

Re: What problems have you had to overcome

My problem list: 1.) Tin ear. 2.) No sense of rhythm at all--can't even work a rocking chair. 3.) An apparently total and complete lack of musical talent or ability.

I can't say I have overcome these problems, St. Bede. They're all still with me. Luckily, they don't keep me from grabbing a guitar and having fun anyway. :-)

Re: What problems have you had to overcome

For me it's been the opposite, the more problems the better I get. Not that I look for problems... god no. I view music to be the best form of therapy above all else. When life is smoothly sailing along, I play less and with less intensity.
