End of an era - the NeoConMan Desert Compound will be no more
Looks like the end of an era has finally arrived.
The NeoConMan Desert Compound will be no more. ![]() Yes, it's true. A small swath of the Sonoran Desert will fall under the domain of a new owner. We finally consumated a deal that has been in the works for some time. Not sure what the new owner will do with the place after we finish clearing out. I will now be camouflaged in the suburbs of Phoenix, within a small gated subdivision. A whole 'nuther kind of compound, if you will. ![]() The loss of storage space, and far less elbow-room for a buffer will be a tough adjustment for me. Neighbors' houses are literally within spitting distance - if over a concrete wall. Anyhow, the neighbors we've met so far are decent and welcoming. I'll not spoil it with gunfire or cranked Marshalls. Gonna be a BIG adjustment... ![]() .

Congrats on the sale, and the new place. Having recently gone through the same thing, I know it's not exactly a stress free or fun process.

Thump has a good point about those HOAs. They can be vicious.
Congratulations on the sale, and good luck with the new place! |

Re: End of an era - the NeoConMan Desert Compound will be no more
Goddam - I had to MOVE!
![]() Hah, yeah, DL & Thump - the HOA is some kinda strict. Gated community and all that jazz. I was the president of an HOA years ago, but it was homes on a rural airstrip, hangars, etc. These high-falutin' city folks may be a step ahead of me. ![]() We'll see... ![]() .

Thanks Bertzie - I appreciate the sentiment fully.
![]() But it'll work for what we have going on now. Next Compound - bigger and better. ![]() .

Don't see why people have such a hard time with HOA's. Keep your place from looking like a dump and you won't have problems.

Re: End of an era - the NeoConMan Desert Compound will be no more
Gated Communities are a concept I don't fully comprehend. Especially for someone like Neo. I'm expecting a headline in the near future like..
"Man battles HOA after being sanctioned for flying too many flags" or something of the like. |

Your award for the year is revoked, Neo. It now goes to bertzie. It's not exactly a desert, desert, but it's Wisconsin. It'll do.

I HATE moving, but I've done it a bunch. Always a good excuse to get rid of some excess baggage.

I kind of always imagined you as sort of a Hunter S. Thompson type living on your compound and keeping the world at bay. Good luck with the move. Watch out for the dirt worshippers and the celestials.

Re: End of an era - the NeoConMan Desert Compound will be no more
I don't think I would have it any other way if I lived in the US. Gated community and three Dobermans.
![]() Congrats, Neo. It's about time you joined the civilized world. Let me know if you decide to sell any of those guitars.
