Whats the nicest thing you've ever done for someone else?

Putting up this stop sign i made,<more than once> a 1/4 mile from my house in an attempt to keep people from running into the 60 mph oncoming traffic.
For people that dont know the area....kids, take, break,or run over this and many other stop signs thru the county, clearly not thinking it could get someone killed in a matter of seconds, and my g/f happens to go thru that intersection every frikkin day, twice.

I've stopped and changed a tire for an elderly person on the side of the road a time or two, other than that, just creative ideas for b-day and x-mas gifts.

What's the nicest thing you've done for someone else?

Re: Whats the nicest thing you've ever done for someone else?

Don't know, I don't really think about it.

I do favors if people ask, if I'm free i'll do pretty much anything for a friend. I had my friend who was suicidal - a complete mess move in with me so I could help him through it a manic depressive alcoholic, He stole, got boozed up all the time - I was stern with him, looked after him till he kicked it and sorted himself out..

...then he stole my mates bike and ive not seen him since.

Learn't my mates bands whole set so they could play a festival because the guitarist couldnt commit.

I take in stray animals and sort them out to rehome them, end up keeping a few.

Fix peoples guitars for free if they can't afford it...everyone should have an instrument.

Loan out equipment - sometimes never get it back.

I used to busk and by homeless people sandwiches or tents, mostly sandwiches tho.

And I put up with my wife...so nobody else has too.

But I do a whole other amount or no deeds at all to counteract any good deeds I do.

I aimed low intentionally and shot him in the leg.

Erm... I gave up playing at a show to comfort my girlfriend because she was suffering from depression. That means a lot coming from me, being addicted to that kind of thing. And I wrote her a song to try and cheer her up. =) Those count right?

Other than that. I went out into town and blew the money I had on some Graphic Novels and a new game for her birthday, even though I was saving up to buy an amplifier at the time. =) I thought that was pretty nice.

Re: Whats the nicest thing you've ever done for someone else?

I have helped tons of folks with things. Generally my criteria is this:

I have a service that I can provide.
The person in question is in need.
The person in questions is trying to help themselves.

That's when I make the offer...

Remember, kids, a good friend will bail you out of jail but a really good friend is in jail with you.

Re: Whats the nicest thing you've ever done for someone else?

Like Zen, I had really thought much about it. When I "take stock" it's of those things for which I am thankful, not those things for which I should be thanked.

I've never been one for doing things in order to receive thanks or praise, but I will drop everything for someone in legitimate need, if there is some way that I can help. Two things that come to mind are: once, I took all the money I had and bailed a good guy out of jail, who didn't belong there. Years before that, I stopped a gang rape from taking place.

I became an instant Dad to a little three year old girl about 13 years ago. Her and her little sister (my biological daughter) are now the most important things in my life.

I questioned what the hell I was doing a few times, but now I wouldn't trade it for anything.

She's a good kid.

Been there Shane lol
The nicest b-day gift for g/f is a toss up,
A : dropped her off at a spa w/ oj and champagne and a small b-day cake for the entire day, medi, pedi, facial, massage paid for. They called me later and said she's done, come get her.
B : I paid for us both to take turns riding in an open cockpit ww2 training plane, that was badass.

Very nice Matt, when you can better the quality of someone elses life with your actions, thats a good day.

I help anyone that needs it for the most part... I've done tons of home projects for neighbors just to help.
Hell at the grocery store if I have 10 items and you have 1 or 2 I'll let you go 1st.. I'll help people with groceries, I'll hold the door.. I'll help old people when I think they need (I ask 1st though).
I try to live by the let do for you, I'm blessed to be a handsome son of a bitch built like a ton of bricks.. LOL Ok maybe not, but I'm blessed to be healthy and physically fit let me help you.. I'm not rich but I'll help someone out the best I can.

I'll do for others I don't expect anything in return... If I can touch someone (not phsically or sandusky wise LOL) in a positive way I will. I'm a nice guy I guess thats why I finish last..(it is true btw).

Same here, I don't really think about it - I just tend todo things...that's the way it should be.

Unless it's a contract I don't ever expect anything in return (Unless i'm going down - yaknowhaddmean), but that doesn't mean I like having the piss taken haha.

Hmmm...I've had a few "houseguests" who needed a place to say while they got sorted out. One was for 7 months, and another was 3 months.

I found a wallet sitting on a parkbench. Looked at the address on the driver's license and drove there to drop it off.

Re: Whats the nicest thing you've ever done for someone else?

Can't talk about the NICEST thing I've ever done for someone but I DID do something cool for an animal once. I was driving up hwy 63 in mid-Missouri. There was a hound dog in the road. The road has a posted speed limit of 70 mph. The dog was rather confused. I herded it off the road and out of traffic with my car. The dog would have surely been hit by a car if i hadn't done that.

Re: Whats the nicest thing you've ever done for someone else?

During my many trips to Mazatlan, I got to know a Mexican beach peddler.

I was honored one day when he invited me to his house for dinner.
The place was so poor, he was so poor, it stunned me.
Dirt floor bedrooms for the kids, A tree growing into the open air kitchen.

I can tell you that the dinner they served was probably a months worth of food for their family. I was honored, and felt very humbled.

I needed to do something but just giving them $ wasn't the way to handle it.

I put the wife through a hair styling school (took two years).
Cost me all of $50.00 per month plus a $200.00 layout at the end for exams.

It changed their lives and now they are a modest $ family with some future for their kids.

I feel pretty good about that.
