Just did yesterday. I now have 2 dogs, both rescued...in fact, every dog I have had in my 64 years has been rescued. Thanks for posting this here. It is a very serious problem that sees millions of dogs and cats killed every year, and a lot of them living in "puppy mills" in terrible conditions.
mark My 2 dogs on their first evening together. The little girl with the big ears is the new one, Tally, a Greyhound mix...The BIG GUY is Jasper, a Lab/Rotweiller.

I rescued a tiny kitty 3 days ago and I gave it to my family help of 22 years. She just lost a cat 2 weeks ago so her and her daughters were really happy when I found the little guy.

Great thread.
Our adorable terrorist (I stole that from apocalypsebob) was rescued from a shelter as well. (I've also rescued an Ibanez, a Casino, both of my Les Pauls and a sweet Segovia accoustic.)

My two rescue pitties:
Chuy:  Jack:   As soon as our puppy mill yellow lab dies, I'll adopt a rescue cat or two. The lab would attack the cats, It's dumber than a box of rocks and mean as hell. Probably too much in-breeding.

I just rescued a kitten from the parking lot at my workplace. Someone just dumped it there, it could have gone into the busy main road
 No houses around so someone obviously thought it was a good place to leave it with people coming and going. (But they forgot cars do too! ). Got someone to take it to my house until I could find someone who wanted to adopt it and someone did! They wanted go to looking for one this week but happy to take this little one in. It just left my house to it's new home and family I would have taken him myself but my landlord only allowed me to have one pet here, my dog, who was a stray I took in 8 yrs ago .

This one adopted me....
 He's a big, 100 pound gorilla that hides in the bathtub during a thunderstorm when I'm home, and is ALWAYS first for treats. The black one in this photo  Was tied up and abused. We adopted him 3 yrs ago and he's a spoiled baby now. The Jack Russel is the only dog we've bought. Since then my gals ex husband was in a horrible accident and we've taken in his Lab who had puppies 9 weeks ago. We gave all the puppies away except 1.  Thats my new patnah. He's 9 wks old and 20 pounds of mayhem.
