I can appreciate opera singers, but that performance did nothing for me. I get high pitched singers, but that guys voice was a dead ringer for a woman.

yea, that was pretty cool, he should ditch
the vampire eyes though, but it was the first time
he ever sang in front of an audience, even his dad
had never heard him sing like that before, they were
shocked like the audience

He's a decent actor.

These shows are all scripted, like Queen For A Day.

If it were fake, it'd have been exposed by now. Just ask Timothy Poe.

Re: Unlikely Boy Shocks an Audience with a Voice You'll Never Believe

I just didn't buy the kid's story that his parents had never heard him and that nobody believed in him. I could see writing some kind of freakzoid like this if you were an acquaintance, but as a parent, and you haven't heard the kid sing once? But they were in the audience, plausible story is plausible, give me a fkn break...

How many people can walk up to a mic in a setting like that...first time EVER and not be too close to the mic, too far away, the hand gestures....too many things say that this is not the first time this guy sang in front of people....nope not going to buy it.

Reality TV...it is all garbage.

Your argument is flawed. You don't need to sing in front of anyone to know proper mic placement. And anyone that's ever seen anyone sing can make hand gestures.

Yes, it is probablly all scripted, and even his dress was a creation of the producers.

Re: Unlikely Boy Shocks an Audience with a Voice You'll Never Believe

You don't get on primetime TV without an audition.

How did he rate a performance "debut" on National TV, with his story and a promise to be worth it?

Not for the kind of money at stake on these shows.

I've played guitar for a local gal who has tried out for American Idol a couple times. She can sing like Aretha and take the roof off a place, but she wasn't "what they were looking for," so didn't make the first cut.

Reality TV is scripted folks.

That is true, I have never sung in front of anyone, nor into a mic. But I think I can spontaneously make dramatic gestures and know proper mic placement from my observations. Besides, even if everything presented is true, I am sure there are some rehearsals.

This shit is recorded non-chronologically. You don't think they just pick random people out of the group, get their stories, and hope they're good, do you?

They do have pre-screenings to pick people, as having three judges judge thousands of auditions would take weeks. They don't, however, get a ton of redos. The bad ones are put through intentionally because it makes for more interesting television.

Then "Opera Boy's" story isn't true at all, if there are rehearsals.

He said onstage right in front of the panel and audience that he had never sung before anybody, even his family, before.

Come ON!

Think, people.

He's a counter tenor.. Used to be known as Castrati in the times of Handel where quite a few pieces were written for guys with that high range..

Very popular with the ladies for some reason and also with the guys.
They made a film about a famous counter tenor called Farrinelli..( Good film )

In the film they actually used the soundtrack of a female soprano though..

Here's a real counter tenor though, Andreas Scholl. Probably one of the most famous of todays countertenors singing Handels 'Omba Mai Fu' one of my favourite pieces.

I doubt that is something you can learn from a book, or by watching a youtube video....I think that acutal experence would be needed to sound THAT GOOD.

i cant put into words how little i care about these "amazing" singers....its like the obsession guitarists have with speed, sorry id rather listen to some original meaningful music instead of some **** that happens to have nice pipes sing the same old no character shit we've all heard a million times.

i bet he sits a group of 10 other goths everyday and talks with them about how hard it is not having anyone to talk and relate to....its all fake shit trying people do to make themselves seem interesting.

I disagree heavily with this. How many outsiders and social rejects have found solace in music? A lot of my favorites, and I'm sure a lot of your favorites, as well. This is the same situation, so if this kid is truly an outsider, him going on a talent show shouldn't mean that he's faking it, or whatever.

That's how I feel about it. How dumb do they think we all are? Yeah they're making a buck off us, and everyone knows it, but they're also being huge assholes.

That's my favorite part--although sometimes you just know the person did it as a joke or to get attention, other times they really don't know how bad they are...

Right, because everything on the outside, says everything you need to know about a person.

I didn't know being "goth" or "emo" had any impact on talent, skill, etc. I think someone need to grow up a bit.
