Since we all know the 1959 Les Paul is the best...

.... and we all know that Pearly Gates is the best 1959
.....and we all know that the Billly Gibbons 'Pearly Gates' Les Paul Standard is the best Gibson repro of the best 1959....

Why don't we all send a letter to Gibson and ask them to shut down all non-Pearly Gates production, and get busy making ONLY this guitar?

You don't see Lamborghini making a bunch of different models.

Because if you flood the market with '59's buyers will wait to buy it later short, just like any other over-valued commodity.

Billy Gibbons' specialty is marketing. He's as much a Texas redneck as am I.

You're buying into his bullshit?

This is a joke that isn't a joke, right? You think he's a cattle-puncher who took up guitar in his teens, right?

Joke's on you.

There are lot of other famous musician's who have original 59 Les Paul's other than Mr. Gibbon's.

yet, my go to guitar is my R7 BB – i wish i could wear it as a neck tie but i don't wear ties and don't want to walk with a stoop

based on consensus, myth, and marketing, shouldn't i prefer an R9 over an R7? (given acquiring 1959 Standard is somewhat unlikely – so i have to make do)

what's wrong with me? any explanations?

i've run out of G.A.S. on the way to the Pearly Gates and other signature model R9s

maybe my R9 is a better Les Paul, but my R7 BB is a better guitar for me...

i wonder if others' "best" is not "The Best" as well?

I've never got the love for the 59 over others. I guess that the 59 is the easiest to pronounce and has the most famous users, so it gets all the credit?

Imo, any gibson historic is pretty good, and there are more than enough flavors for everyone. Maybe the 59 is the most legendary, but I think they are all equal in awesomeness overall.

I do believe a more apposite post would have been:
'Did you miss the emoticons at the very bottom of the post...?'

I think he did miss them. The original post is, I believe, a total piss-take on the '59, and the 'incense shaking' that surrounds it.

I think your comment is somewhat out of order, or is there some previous form between you two?

Just my simple observations.
