Re: Your Favorite Spooky Scenes From Movies...
Norman Bates' smile (at about 1:30 in the clip above) in the final scene of "Psycho." When I saw it on the big screen it gave me a real chill, unlike any other horror movie jolt I've ever experienced.
--- Other great scenes: I love the scene in "Silence of the Lambs" when Agent Starling is going door to door interviewing people and meanwhile this FBI team thinks they've found the bad guy's house. The film cuts back and forth between the action at each place. The FBI entry team bursts in to an empty house and meanwhile the bad guy answers the door for Agent Starling. This scene in "The Serpent and the Rainbow": Dargent Peytraud: By the way, Doctor Allen. What did you dream about this afternoon? A woman in your arms? The sea at your doorstep? Nooooo! You dreamt of me and of the grave. I know because I was there. And I can be there every time you close your eyes. The pain I cause you, in the room upstairs, is nothing to the pain I can cause in your own mind. Remember that... Doctor Allen. The original movie "The Wicker Man" from 1973, is full of creepy scenes. It's a weird movie and often really corny, but still very creepy. The animal masks at the end gave me the heebee jeebies. And early on in the movie there's a scene where they manage to make a nice-looking, naked blonde woman singing into something really creepy and disturbing. |

Me? I think it's spooky as hell. The last scene in the cabin had people screaming in the theater I saw the movie at... Especially when you see the one guy standing in the corner.

The first half of Jeepers Creepers is stands out to me.
The whole concept of Event Horizon. The commercials for Texas Chainsaw Massacre scared me so bad as a kid I've never watched it (or any other chainsaw movies) and have no plans to, ever. |

Re: Your Favorite Spooky Scenes From Movies...
The first "A Nightmare on Elm Street" has quite a few genuinely creepy scenes. The "long armed Freddy" sequence is a good one.
It's a shame the first movie is really the only spooky one.

Re: Your Favorite Spooky Scenes From Movies...
It's not so much spooky as it is horrific, because the monsters are human:
You need to start a thread about this. |

Event Horizon. This whole movie scared the shitake out of me when i saw it as a teenager. Haven't dared watch it since, but this is one of the scenes that i remember:

![]() yeah that scene where she's watching him was creepy. I'm noticing a trend in what I think is creepy. Everything so far is "something bad watching you, when you don't know it's there,......but its close....very close." |

Re: Your Favorite Spooky Scenes From Movies...
The Omen (1976) for my money, one of the best horror flicks ever made. Perhaps single-handedly responsible for the "number of the beast"--666-- entering the popular lexicon. One among many creepy scenes:
1st runner-up, Eraserhead. Just pick any scene... |

Re: Your Favorite Spooky Scenes From Movies...
![]() Actually, this was an episode of Tales from the Crypt back in the early 90’ but this particular episode seemed way more serious and sinister than the others. I think it was called Only Skin Deep or Only Sin Deep. Took me years to finally find it on Youtube and all the comments say the same thing – defiantly the creepiest episode of them all.

Re: Your Favorite Spooky Scenes From Movies...
The end of Black Swan was the only time i've been frightened by a movie, you may think that's just BS machismo, but i've seen dozens of horror movies and never felt afraid, some of the better ones (i.e. The Shining) i've enjoyed but didn't feel scared. Black Swan freaked me THE HELL OUT
I saw someone posted scenes from 2001, awesome movie, those are pretty creepy too 'open the pod bay door hal' 'i'm afraid i can't do that'

Re: Your Favorite Spooky Scenes From Movies...
Maybe I was too young when I saw it but The Funhouse just freaked me out as a kid. Just something so eerie about the dirty carnie life behind the scenes and all. It totally has that late 70’s/early 80’s dirty dark horror movie vibe. Saw it again recently and aside from the terrible acting it still holds up.
