When Guitar Mods Don't Work Out...
Well this is a piss off...
>>This fine sunny day, I decided to confine myself indoors to finally install some stuff on the 'ol SG that I'd had laying around for a while.. One of 'em isn't gonna work, and it sucks because I really thought it was gonna look sharp.. Was gonna install this white pickguard and while I'm at it, put in the Seymour Duncan Jazz in the bridge I'd bought a while back... to match the JB in the bridge.. ![]() Unfortunately the company that made this one did a piss poor job and only TWO of the holes properly line up.. I'm not gonna force it... back to the black I guess... ![]() ![]() ![]() F$%##$... I'm cracking a beer! Well at least I'll get that JB installed! ![]()

Re: When Guitar Mods Don't Work Out...
I may be wrong, it's hard to tell from the pics, but it looks to me like you just need to trim along the bit that sits against the bottom of the neck and the rest will line up.

Re: When Guitar Mods Don't Work Out...
It's a possibility, but I think I'd have to trim it to the point where the holes that do line up will look like those pictured.

Re: When Guitar Mods Don't Work Out...
That stinks. Strat pickguards are notorious for that too. Might be time to get a pickguard router bit from stewmac & some material and go to town..

Re: When Guitar Mods Don't Work Out...
I have that problem with off brand pickguards some times
I have two jazz bass and one strat pickguard that wont fit without messing up the holes

Re: When Guitar Mods Don't Work Out...
This company will cut you one per your existing PG. I've never used them, but may be an option...?

Re: When Guitar Mods Don't Work Out...
I'm surrendering for now.. maybe down the road.. I'll install this JB in the neck and call it a victory!
I saw a pic of an SG somewhere with a white PG and gold hardware and thought it looked nice.. I'd even have liked white or zebra bobbins on these duncans for the contrast, but oh well... |

Re: When Guitar Mods Don't Work Out...
Then you should get one of those and quit tryin' to make the SG all nice and pretty.

Re: When Guitar Mods Don't Work Out...
ok...so the JB in the bridge and the Jazz in the neck are great... huge improvement over the stock PUps.
So some mods did work out. |

Re: When Guitar Mods Don't Work Out...
The JB is an outstanding pup, I think my favorite of all the ones I've played through

Re: When Guitar Mods Don't Work Out...
It's early. Too early for the brain to hit on all cylinders, apparently. I thought this thread was going to be about guitar forum moderators who went to seed because they didn't excercise.
