Damn those Long Island ice teas!!
Local bar runs a drink special, offering Long Island ice teas for a pittance. Ever have those? Extremely dangerous to your judgement because there are four or so shots of booze in the glass and it doesn't taste like it. Tastes like ice tea, hence the name. Very easy to pound down a couple of `em before you realize what you're doing . . . and then it's too late.
Such was the case the other night when me and the spousal unit stopped by the place on the way home from work. I was thirsty, and chugged two tall ones and about half of my wife's. At home I was killing time waiting for the Cup game to start by cruising about Ebay looking a guitars -- you know where this is going, right? -- and the booze began kicking in, punching my ticket to Happytown with a stop at Dumbsh*tville along the way. As my liver shifted into hyperdrive trying to save brain cells from the onslaught, I came across a Standard in natural finish. Bad luck for me, since I'm a sucker for natural finishes. "Dang nice git, thought I. I want it." And I bid the minimum. Jeez. In the clear (relatively) light of a post-Long Island morning I realized I don't want another Standard. It was a true WTF face palm moment. Heck, sold my other Standard a few months ago because I wasn't playing it. I could only hope someone would raise the bid and save me from myself. As the days went on and no one bid, it became apparent I had a good chance to win. I even went into the Ebay Forum and mentioned the auction, hoping someone would bid. Alas, no one at MLP was drinking Long Islands and I won the git. And now I have a nice one on the way here, probably to gather dust until I re-post it on Ebay. I blame the bartender. And society. And bling's otter. |

Re: Damn those Long Island ice teas!!
Actually, it's 5 shots.
![]() I'm not much of a drinker at all. I usually end up throwing beer out after a couple years, if nobody drinks it. But....I do like a LIIT (or three) every now and then.

Re: Damn those Long Island ice teas!!
yeah, if it isn't the booze that gets you, it's the killer amount of sugar in one that is lethal for the hangover
BTW nice Raw Power on the way

You know what I know about LIIT?
This is a drink that is even more deceptive and dangerous than the Hurricane! And that's sayin' somethin', man! --R

Re: Damn those Long Island ice teas!!
I quit drinking over 20 years ago. I had problems with perception...and stuff.
![]() I'm feeling MUCH better now.

Re: Damn those Long Island ice teas!!
Out in San Francisco a friend bought me a couple of Fog Cutters. Another of the sneaky, multi-shot beverages. Deceptive name, though. It didn't cut the fog, it generated it.
