'The Queen'..Coming to a field near me..

It's ironical that only some weeks ago some of us were having a raging debate in a thread about the Royal family, with anti Royalists like myself clashing antlers big time with the likes of Royalists like Team1.

So now guess what's happened?
The Queen is coming to the shire on Wednesday.. Not to visit me thank Heavens..
And what is even weirder is that she's landing in a helicopter in the playing field of a school smack bang in front of the window of a music room my daughter is teaching vocals in.

All vehicles are banned from the site and no member of the public aother than pupils are allowed within the gates. Only teachers are allowed on the premises and as my daughter has police clearance, she's been told the old gal may pop her head in...
I am so glad it's not me, because I really would rather not meet anyone I would be expected to bow too. Now my daughter is in a flap..

If Teame1 and any of the other Royalists were down this way, I would have bought them all a little plastic flag to wave..

Me?.. I'll be in another nearbye town thankfully..

Check out Teame1's Royalist Queens birthday thread , or whatever it was called from a couple of months ago. We Brits were at eachothers throats..

I don't wish them harm..I just have no time for what they represent.

The Royals just need to up their game a little... they haven't been up to much in the last hundred years or so... their popularity is suffering.

..you should just have William go sack France.

It would be a lot more fun to sack Kate. Are you allowed to say it would be fun to bang a Royal silly?

Re: 'The Queen'..Coming to a field near me..

I'm not exactly sure how it works over in the UK. I'm aware that there's a House of Commons (Orrrrrrder!) and a House of Lords. Similar to the American House of Representatives and Senate.

Does the Queen oversee or have any sway over the Parliament or has the Royal Family become more of a tourist attraction sort of thing?

It's banded about that they don't have any real power but Queen gets a private meeting with the British Prime Minister every week where no one is allowed in, no recordings or notes are ever taken and is highly confidential. The PM has to go to her for this meeting. That in my books is real power.

Hmmm....yeah, I would have to agree with you.

Then again....the conversation may go something like this:

British PM: Your Majesty, do you fancy Chelsea or Liverpool in their match this weekend?

The Queen: Chelsea, of course! You won't see me rooting for a bunch 'o Scousers, mate!
