Re: My son passed away

Condolences.
Reading through the lines of your original post I believe our family suffered a similar circumstance.
Unfortunately some of the despair the victim feels can then be passed on in new form to the people they leave behind.
Some of those can feel dragged along in their wake.
I had to remind those in my situation that they had other people depending on them.
Thankfully this seems to have been enough.
Nobody in the family mentions that person and, although he wasn't a direct relative of mine, I feel saddened by that.
He still existed and was a much-loved family member.

Re: My son passed away

Your expressions are all so precious to me. I will read this thread over and over many times, for years to come no doubt.

My wife and I went to the funeral home this morning. I can't tell you what it's like to pick out a casket for your child. Oh my God...my poor wife. The cemetery is high up on a hill, and looking out across the way are mountains, with the Delaware river below. Nathan loved to go hiking there along the ridges and trails with his friends. We felt comforted in a small way that his final resting place could be near a place that he enjoyed so much.

Thank you, thank you all so much for your expressions of sympathy.

Re: My son passed away

Death and I have been acquainted ever since I was ten years old, but I still never know quite what to say. Especially when someone has lost a child. Even saying I'm sorry for your loss doesn't feel like enough. But it's all I have right now.

Re: My son passed away

So sorry man. I kind of understand how you feel. I'm 16 and recently a kid at my school who I've known since Kindergarten committed suicide, it was so hard for all of us. Whenever young people tragically are taken from us, the emotional impact is almost harder to deal with than an older person dying. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. My deepest condolences.

Re: My son passed away

I too have experienced your "reality"
And I am truly sorry for your loss.
my oldest daughter, and mother of 4 of my grandchildren took her own life last July, life hasnt been the same since, nor do I believe it will ever be,but one must keep going,so keep on keeping on,and know that a complete stranger feels your pain, and wishes speed to your healing, and hope to return to your heart.
