Post your "Best $200 (or less) you ever spent on gear".
New or used. What's the best deal, or best quality gear you've gotten for $200 or less? What is it that you really like about the gear?
For me, it's a Fender Strat (MIM) with Seymour Duncan hot/cool/vintage rails. Heck, the pickups were worth $200! I play this thing more often than my Les Paul (or my Gretsch, or my American Strat, or my SG, or my Tele, or my....). In second place would be: Package deal: Ibanez RG270DLX, Peavey Bandit 112 TransTube amp, TKL hard-case, Dunlop Wah pedal, Ibanez phaser pedal, DOD pedal, cables, tuner. That deal was terrific, but goes to second place, because the guitar wasn't a keeper. But, I sold it for $200, so the rest of the stuff was free! |

I bought a 1962 Fender Concert amp and an Acoustic 150b for $200 at a garage sale last year.
I flipped the bass amp for $178, so I guess that old Brownface amp came in at about 22 bucks. |

Re: Post your "Best $200 (or less) you ever spent on gear".
I bought my 71 SF Bassman at a GC in North Dallas back in 1991 for $99.99 +tax. I hadn't planned on buying anything, I was just hanging out with a bud and he wanted to go look at their acoustics, so I went along. They had four of them in at that price, so I grabbed a Les Paul off'n the wall, went through the four of them and found the one I liked. Great, rich cleans, awful distortion ... but that's what pedals are for.

I bought three or four late 50s/early 60's Gibson Melody Makers for between $150 and $200 each back in the early 90's. I don't have any of them anymore. Wish I still did.

Re: Post your "Best $200 (or less) you ever spent on gear".
I bought a Tradition MTQ off eBay for $165.00 several years ago-I knew they were good guitars as a local shop sold them-They were selling for 400 bucks new-this one was new, and at a shop in PA--I wasn't cool with the color, but the guitar was a steel-
It was cherry burst--which I have never been a fan of- I kept it for years--sold it to buy a different color-they quit making them- I finally found another in a color I liked-It cost me much more than $165.00 ![]() ![]()

Re: Post your "Best $200 (or less) you ever spent on gear".
i picked up an SG90 Double for $25 and a bag of weed (back when i was into that sorta thing...so yeah about $35 bucks.
it was the only thing the kids dad left behind when his dad abandoned them to go live with his girlfriend in the Caribbean. he said he hated that f***er (his dad) and wanted it (the guitar) gone. funny thing is i sold it for $600 in Milwaukee....if found me in Ohio sitting in a used gear section!!!! i told them the history and pointed out a VERY teltale characteristic of this guitar to prove it was my old guitar...they sold it to me for $300 bucks....I sold it to a guy later on in life for $600. as far as Im concerned im $865 bucks in the green on that bad boy! best investment ever!!! not mine but exactly like it

Re: Post your "Best $200 (or less) you ever spent on gear".
For $175 out the door I got a 2001 MIM Strat with hardcase. The previous owner had cut a diamond plate steel pickguard and used hex screws (that were huge) to mount it. It also had three different SD pickups (JB Jr., Hot Rails and Cool Rails) in it.

A set of 2-conductor Dubya Bee Gregwinds $200. They went into my Les Paul and will only come out when Greg gets the new ones from Lindy Fralin.

Re: Post your "Best $200 (or less) you ever spent on gear".
I think a fret-leveling can do wonders for a guitar in need of it. As well the refret on my Yammy SG was a bargoon at $150.
