What an ACE! My cat is MUCH better than human. My wife and I were in THE DUMPS! We adopted SAbu and the heaven's opened. He "cured" us. Our three minds are linked. I NEVER curse at him. Poor form. He will reveal the lottery #s to me someday. He just said

You do not own a cat. A cat chooses you. Try to dominate the undominatible and there will be extreme grief. If you are a control freak, a cat is not for you.

Minature panther indeed. Jinxi's head clears the top of the dinner table, he can see over it when he reaches up. He can also stretch up and take objects off the kitchen counter, often making the task of putting together sanwhichs a chore. He has a good vocabulary and sits on command. Majestic is the word.

Before I got married I had zero cats.

I got married, now I have 3.

All three were rescued from not so good situations. One, starving on an abandon farm (Pitri), one in an animal shelter (Tripper) and one, a stray, starving to death (Martin). After the first 2, I vowed to never own a cat again, but there I go, bringing the last one home myself.

Every time I swear at the cats, I remind them they could be dead and I remind myself that in the end, they always win, for I'm the guy scooping their poop.

It's all good.

True, but I'd nuance the issue with this:

A dog's love is yours to lose, a cat's is yours to win.

That's a sweeping generalization, though, and both species have innumerable individuals with unique personalities. I'll also say this:

I've never thought "OMG, that cat's gonna kill that little kid!". I've thought it numerous times in the presence of certain dogs. One time, the little kid was my brother - and he wasn't little.
