Nike

Some of the 99% wait in line for hours for the chance to buy the new Nike shoe for $250. They sell on Ebay between $1000-$2000 due to demand/

What in the hell is wrong with these people? This time next year they will be on Ebay for $150 or less.

If you think buying cloth and plastic shoes made in China is worth this, you have no right to complain about "income inequality". You stupid sheep.

You do realize that Kobe is externally popular and people of all income brackets will pay the price to get them. I would never pay that much but YMMV..

Rioting over shoes proves how retarded our society is becoming.

If shoes are that important to you, you have mental issues. Plain and simple.

Re: Nike

I would not pay more than $10 for a pair of panties worn by Adriana Lima. Why would owning the same tennis shoes that some sports guy wears matter?

For $250, you can get some pretty fine Italian leather boots.

How much are a set of pickup's worth?..how much is anything worth?

People will pay what they want, it's silly price and i agree, but it's their money.

I want Kobe to buy a set of my pickups so I can charge $50 THOUSAND for them!

There is no reason for any of these people to complain about global warming, human rights, income inequality, or gas prices. They have lost their license to complain.

And I wonder why SPORTS is such a sacred fxcking cow?

I won't buy Nike, if you can find the interview with Phil Knight
in Rolling Stone ('96 - '98), the man is a pig.
I think I have 1 shirt and a pair of shorts.
There are other brands, much less expensive and just as good.

Re: Nike

You know that the economic depression can't be too bad for SOME people when there are lines out the door to buy a $250 pair of shoes.

(of course, most are probably people trying to resell them online and make a profit, but you get the point)

Re: Nike

people pay
$500 for a set of pickups
$4,000 for guitar
$250 for a pedal
$50+ for a strap

so what?

Fashion is big business. I haven't had a pair of Jordans in 15 years but I kind of want the retro jumpmans

Just a few things. Maybe these people aren't the ones complaining about most of those things. Just a thought. As for not being able to complain about HUMAN RIGHTS because one pays more than you feel is justifiable for a pair of kicks is BS bro. That's a bit of a stretch.
There are people here and elsewhere that will drop several G's on a guitar that will never return the investment, yet there is nothing wrong with that.
To each their own man, lighten up, it's just some kicks and not your $$ being spent.
People justify spending what they do on what they do, no matter the economic situation. It's been that way since money existed.

Re: Nike

Buying things made in China, when there are alternatives, negates one's right to complain about human rights. Not so much of a stretch.

And, people complain all the time around here about why a R9 costs more than a R7 (for example) and yet, people are not SHOCKED and a bit upset that some one would pay $1000 to $50 THOUSAND for a pair of tennis shoes? And at a $250 retail price, Nike cannot afford to make them in the US? They have to pay slave wages to make a profit?

Yeah, I have a PROBLEM with this.

So, the next time I see anyone complain about the price of a Historic, or a set of audio cables or a PIO cap etc, I will remind them of this thread.

Hey, it does have multitudes of implicatons about human nature that one would pay this for shoes just because some basketball player uses the same brand. And it pisses me off that I would even have to explain why it pisses me off.

Re: Nike

Nike is NOT fashion! For $2000, one can buy the finest leather shoes in the world. They would go well with a $15,000 suit and a $120,000 car, parked in a $5 MIL house that has a $250,000 stereo in it.

I have a pair of Nikes I paid $35 for 20 years ago. I use them when I play tennis. They are tennis shoes after all. When I am done playing tennis, I remove them and put on street shoes, dress shoes or my fine Italian boots, depending on what I am doing next.

Wow, didn't mean to piss you off by making you explain your patriotic comments. So many things are made in China that many of use on a daily, that I guess most of us have negated our privilege to complain about human rights?? Sure, it is funny/ridiculous that people spend that much on some kicks, I don't deny that.
But, it's your thread, your opinion.

Let the record show that Mr Draned brought race into play. But if any of these people, regardless of race, are getting any form of government assistance, then it would piss me off even more.

Nope, they are for one NEW pair, size to be determined by the winning bidder. The bidders are bidding on a pair of shoes not even in the seller's possession yet!

You are right and I stand corrected. It was a moment of frustration and I have since edited the post. My apologies for being ignorant in that manner, as it's not my style.
Other than that, interesting points you have made, just playing devil's advocate.

Re: Nike

Hmm, it makes me want to put up an auction like that, and say I will get them to you when I get them. I will check my local shoe stores once a month until your size shows up on the shelf. I have no problem taking advantage of someone who wants to pay $100 THOUSAND for $250 pair of shoes (which are really a $20 pair of shoes)
