Whats In A Name?
This kinda goes along with the questions I was asked in Tonefreak's thread.
Two Coyotes This is what I was told as a boy......Two Coyotes entered a large field from oposite directions. As they neared each other it became obvious to them both that they were strangers to one another, their having never met before. They came up to each other in the middle of the field and stopped to talk. The first Coyote said, "Siyo" ( Hello, as all animals spoke Tsalagi * Cherokee* ) " My name is Slick. " The other Coyote answered, "Siyo, my name is...." Just then, before he could finish a Human Being stepped out into the field and spotted him. "There's a Coyote the Human yelled!" At that Slick yelled, "Run!" So off both Coyotes ran. It was then that the Human also saw Slick. " There goes another one!" he yelled. When the two Coyotes reached the safety of the woods they stopped once more and the second Coyote said, " Nice to meet you Slick. My name is Wanderer and I am a Coyote just like you. " At that Slick gave Wanderer a rather odd look. " No, you are mistaken. " said Slick " I am not a Coyote like you." "Yes you are" "No I'm not!" Back and forth it went untill finally Wanderer said, " Look Slick, it is you who are mistaken. You have fur.... just like mine, ears.... just like mine, paws....just like mine, a snout..... just like mine, a bushy tail.... just like mine. Even your color is...just... like... mine! Yes Slick, you are most certainly a Coyote...just like me!" Well, at that Slick became even more agitated. "Look Wanderer, " He said, " I'll prove it to you that I am not a Coyote like you!" "How so?" asked Wanderer. "Let us run back across the field, then you will see!" answered Slick. Wanderer could not understand the point of it but to humour Slick he agreed. So off across the field they ran with Wanderer, the faster of the two, in the lead. As they neared the middle of the field the human saw them again. Spotting Wanderer first he yelled, " There's that Coyote again!" Then spotting Slick, " and there goes another one!" The two Coyotes ran into the woods on the other side and once more stopped. Right away Slick said, " See! I told you! I told you I am not a Coyote! Did you not hear the Human?" Wanderer was puzzled. " Yes I heard him well. He called us Coyotes!" "NO!" said Slick " He called you a Coyote! Me, I'm Another One!" .....So says Spirit Hawk ^i^ The moral of the story is simple. No matter what others call you. No matter who or what you think you are. No matter who or what you wish others to think you are....you are still what you truly are. Be wise, accept that and be happy. I wish you each enough.....SH ^i^ Last edited by Spirithawk; 02-07-2012 at 10:08 PM. |
