re: Rist Guitars Raffle 4 Historically Built Guitar
What's really going to make this one pop out is when the pore filler is added to show the graining & then that aging. Plus when greg adds the pickguard ( vintage material) which will really add some class.

glad you're getting better. my brother in laws sister stuck her hands under a running lawn mower to clean out the stuck grass and a quarter inch of two fingers was gone. silly girl.

re: Rist Guitars Raffle 4 Historically Built Guitar
I have done the same thing, BB. I was trimming my hedges when I lived in Georgia with pruning clippers. I was cutting a branch at a time, rather quickly and got my left hand in the way, off went my pinky and ring finger tips. Neither has grown back. Then, I follwed that up once I retired from the Navy and moved to Michigan, I was trimming my front hedges with my hedge trimmers, when the handle fell off, and the instant impulse was to grab it with my left hand, my middle finger and ring finger got caught between the jaws.
I too am lucky, I have scars, but I can play.

The guitar looks great, so far!
So, I'd like to invest some dough into a few tickets, too. You guys reckon that will be possible? |

re: Rist Guitars Raffle 4 Historically Built Guitar
There might be legal problems with reopening a raffle after the window has closed. Of course, if anyone pushed it there would already be legal problems with this particular raffle. This kind of contest IS regulated.

re: Rist Guitars Raffle 4 Historically Built Guitar
Hi folks,
Once again I will make a statement on this issue. I will NEVER do something like this again.........for this forum or any other. I have tried to steer clear of the politics of it all, but have been hit from all sides with criticism. Here is the simple truth of it all. Alex was on a fund raising project for the forum. I was not in a position to offer cash, but I could offer my services. The idea was born to build a guitar and document the build (seeing how you all like build threads). All would have fun, and some lucky person would win this instrument. At first the idea was to present it to the winner at the Namm show last year. With everyone's schedules this proved to be impossible. At all times ANY updates or changes were posted on the forum. Any idiot could read and follow the MLP build thread and know exactly what was going on at any time. Granted there were times when the thread went dormant. Why?? Because there were no new updates....Duh! Since the beginning I have stated that I WAS NOT GETTING ONE PENNY FROM THIS BUILD. Neither were any of the others involved. None of us have profited from this. All monies went to support the MLP forum. There are those who say indirectly, we the contributors, have profited. Maybe, maybe not. Any builder, winder, repairman, or finisher will profit simply by being in communication with, and offering our services to others on a public forum. Lots of people profit from this forum and so does it's owner. I have even seen part time builders, through this forum, start business and profit. There is nothing wrong with that. All of us need to eat. That's just the way it is. My motivation for this build was to create a win win situation for everyone involved. I have been accused of using this forum to help build me. Bullcrap! If you take a look at my website and my history, I have been building and repairing guitars for thirty years. Take a look at my client list over the years, they did not come from MLP MLP did not make me, nor will it break me. Some wonder why I have not been here active like I used to. The answer to that is simple. Since I have moved from Los Angles to Redding. I have not had internet hooked up. I will occasionally borrow someones computer to check in on things. To tell you the truth, I like it! I like not being chained to this world wide web. It is just like a web, you get stuck in it. I am happily in my shop, working my ass off. Those that need to get a hold of me know how to. Right now if I never came on line nor answered my phone I still would have enough work to keep me busy for the next year. I will at some point get internet hooked up again, but for now life is just fine without it. I realize I am on a rant, but this is a long time coming for me. If this post gets me banned or my VIP status deleted, So be it. Some of the confusion regarding this raffle lies in the front page of this forum. Whoever is in charge of updating the front page is not doing their job. That is not in my control. I don't have keys to the freaking front desk. I am just a lowly disposable guitar builder who tried to help this place out. The Admin of this forum knows who has contributed, not I. Like I said I HAVE NOTHING to do with the money and never have. OK, rant over. Onto the build. my work (regarding the build) is and has been done for some time now. Dave is completing the finishing, and is doing an outstanding job. We are all lucky that he even agreed to do the finish, given his immense work load and level of skill. I in all my time have not seen a better guitar finisher. Period! I am completely honored that he would finish one of my instruments. Then it goes to BCR Greg To assemble and break in. He will do an awesome job and is an outstanding player. Rest assured this guitar WILL BE DONE. All involved agreed to do it. And it will be done. Any updates will be posted, as always. cheers, Roman

Despite what has happened, kudos to you for coming up with the idea, and to all who contributed to the project. It's just too bad such a great idea turned into such a bitch-fest.
