You really should get out of the country Phil. Things have changed a bit.

Get out to your shed, take out a few slabs of 700 year old wood that Greg can use. I bet that'd do it. I know to Phil, 'old wood' has a whole different meaning.
Fuck me..I aint that old... I was born after the war.
Yes I do have a nice massive beam of 500 year old oak holding my roof up, but I think you'd find a Lester made of that weighing in at around 50 lb.

I do remember when original Strats were about £140 ( $280 US ) and a new 59 Les Paul would set you back around £250 ( ($500 US ) and they were probably more expensive in the UK then because of the embargos.

Cheers,
The best way is to send it to a buddy who has paypal and get them to buy tickets on your behalf. Right now it is only set up for paypal .

Or contact the Financial pirate in charge DJ Wilbanks

I know he is looking into our being able to send $ with a credit card without requiring a Pay Pal account. I know it can be done, but don't know how it works.

Re: Rist Guitars Raffle to Support MLP

Flightcase info

Ok, here's the dealyo...I talked with my buddy about the hardware costs for this case and that's when I had an epiphany. These companies must buy their parts in very large bulk quanitities, otherwise they would never make a buck. That being said, the shopping list came to near $300 for heavy duty specs, and that doesn't include the plywood or the laminate. The best answer here (for my wallet) is two options:

1. Buy a used Anvil (Calzone, etc.), gut it, and then add new foam and velvet cloth

2. Get a new light duty ATA case (lightweight) with a generic cut-out, gut it, and add new foam and velvet cloth.

Either way is going to be about the same cost....but it will be way cheaper than $300, and the level of protection will still be better than a standard hardshell.

Thoughts?

maybe some has a spare case, we can either use it as is, or ship it to you for modding?

Re: Rist Guitars Raffle to Support MLP

I just found a place on ebay selling light duty ATA cases for $50-$60. I can strip it and add better foam with new velvet, and it will be lightweight...

Or something like this used Anvil available locally to me, which will be heavier...

What do you think?

Same here. I have no credit card, or paypall, or anything, and my money is Canadian.

What in the hell do I do?

Re: Rist Guitars Raffle to Support MLP

Here is the Update;
First off, I want to issue a heartfelt thanks to EVERYONE for Their contributions to this historic project.

For one, it is historic simply because all of the people in the Luthier industry that are working together on this project instead of being in competition with each other.

So,

I will build the guitar

Max will inlay the fingerboard

Will Boggs will supply electronics

BCR Greg will supply the parts and hardware and assemble the instrument .

And Now, Big John will supply the case.

OUTSTANDINGTHANK YOU ALL

Here is what is needed now;

I need a bit of creativity here as well.

CASE CANDY

Hang tags, COA, build sheet, stuff like that.

Any Ideas? I would like this to be as memorable as possible

We would need someone to come up with the artwork, printing and actually get something physically printed up.

ANY TAKERS??

Still easier, ATM, to send money to a buddy with paypal/credit card/etc. and have them buy the tickets in your name!

P.S. Lots of homework and stuff, I'm taking the day off from receipts, I'll be sending them out tomorrow!

ANNOUCMENT : I feel very strongly being this a Rist Guitar Project & Roman being the the MLP Head Luthier that the guitar when completed be sent back to him for final tweaks if needs be & his approval & photo's & that Roman announces the winner

Also I will insist he take some pix with the guitar as well to celebrate his great contribution & heading a wonderful project
