Saw Brad Paisley last night...lotsa pics...

Hey all--had a wonderful time at the concert thanks to our own Sea Pull (Joe).

He met my wife and I, and gave us a great backstage tour. It was amazing seeing so many guitars backstage (4 acts). I didn't get to take any backstage pics; in all honesty stuff was so packed together it would've been hard to see anything.

Joe's video terminal was pretty darn cool; multiple cameras, and they controlled the incredible video on the stage. I think it's the best light/video show I've ever seen at a concert. Incredible stuff.

I'm not a big country music fan, so I didn't really know much of the music. I'd heard a few of Jewel's tunes, and knew a couple of Brad's. Even so--VERY entertaining show!

I'll post some pics of the guitars in the opening acts, but will start with Brad. Out seats were great; 17 rows from the stage, and about 5 seats away from the end of the stage runway. I got some pretty good shots.

Here he's jamming with his rhythm player...note the fake super-huge Morley-looking wahs...very neat. They traded licks back and forth. I was also digging the Ibanez V.

Here you can see how close we were...

More to come!

The opening act, her last name is Hough. She was on Dancing With the Stars or something. Good singer, great band. They didn't interact much, though.

Jewel looked great, and played well. She just got married last weekend, it turns out.

Good players in her band as well. Correction--these guys played with Chuck Wicks, and other up-and-coming act.

Man, that looks like good times. I saw Jewel at Nashville Star (my best bud is the producer). She blew us away.. I really never realized what she can make her voice do, it was all over the charts.

I thought the same. The sound man must have been going crazy trying to mix her. Whisper quiet, the loud as heck.

Very impressive range.

Yeah she's getting forced to go back to dancing with the stars so her band is kind of splitting up. The guitar player in your first shot, was nervous as hell, that was his first gig...

Glad you had a good time man, we'll hook up again on my next time around...

First gig--that explains it. I'd love to do that.

Is it just me or has the Stratocaster totally gone extinct from the modern live music scene? Great pics BB. Thanks for sharing!

I got the DVD of the Eric Clapton Crossroads Guitar Festival 2007 and wondered just the opposite - only a few not playing Strats.

This Amazon link has a short video clip in it and you can see what I'm talking about. The DVD is very good - Lots of different players and styles of music - but mostly blues, blues/rock.

Country music out here.. it's all Tele's and LP's. There are a couple of Strats out here but you only see them on the occasional song.

New Album comes out in Nov. It's almost all instrumentals and he explores many styles new to him including blues, surf and rock. B.B. King is doing a song on it as well....

BB I was going to ask you about your sudden avatar change a little bit ago, and then I happened upon this thread. Sounds and looks like it was EXCELLENT!

The last time I saw Brad I was significantly farther back (read: in the nose bleeds). Great pics!

Thanks. Ya, it was a great show. I can't wait to hear Brad's exploration of other styles.

He played some bluesy stuff at the show, jamming with (on video) BB King. I love the way BB embraces guitar players from other styles.

Thanks again, Joe!
