A shout out to the forgotten Honkettes..

Lynard Skynard is without a doubt one of the best rock bands of all time... fantastic songs, great guitar playing..... there were also 3 lovely ladies that helped make the sound right before the end... The Honkettes... Cassie Gaines, (Steves sister) Jo Jo Billingsly and Leslie Hawkins... great singers, tragically, Cassie died with her brother on that awful day in the plane crash...we lost a great singer and One of the best guitar players to grace the music industry, a brother and sister...... Leslie recieved a broken neck and needed facial reconstruction surgery and to this day still has issues from the plane crash..JO JO was not on the plane, but a few days before the crash was invited to join up with the band again... by the grace of God she was not on the plane, she had a dream the plane was going to crash a few days before, and actually warned the members not to take it, they did not listen.........sadly Jo Jo died last year to a long battle with cancer.. I believe these 3 need to be remembered, and this is why I give this thread as a tribute to them.... even now..man , my heart breaks...

Just listened to One More From the Road expanded and I love when ronnie says this song is what I'm really about. He then says I forgot what song it is and one of the Honkettes says"Whisky Baby"in a sexy southern drawl and they break into Whisky Rock and Roller.Classic.

Saw them August or September 77. Found "The Shirt" cleaning out my Mom's house. Couldn't bring myself to toss it. (for non-believers, they're different in one tiny respect)

The one with flames on it?

I love Skynyrd. I got to see them right before Billy Powell died. They are legends in my book- a cut above Rock history because of the hardships they endured.
