Re: Great excuse, Gibson!
I like the really innovative finishes in the photos that look just like Ibanez or Charvell finishes from the early 90s.

Re: Great excuse, Gibson!
Three operating systems on one guitar is NOT something to brag about! They should be ashamed that they had to resort to something like that. Software development is all about generalization and re-usability!

The thing is, Gibson's spent years telling consumers that the traditional "old fashion" way of building guitars was the best, their flagship models are all traditional in design, and I just don't think that they've cultivated a large customer base that wants what the Firebird X has to offer. If it was under $1000, I think more people would at least give it a chance, and it might be adopted by younger players that are more comfortable with this kind of technology, but can't afford a guitar that costs more than five grand. In any case, this delay seems to indicate that Gibson is having problems at some point in the manufacturing of this guitar. Doesn't bode well for it. |

That is my intent, to not buy it. I have no use for it, at any price.

Re: Great excuse, Gibson!
Because it's cooler that way... Functionality, desirability... not important....
Oh, did I mention it tunes itself too? Now, that's worth 3K. It comes with african mahogany finished in tooth fairy dust, knobs made out of mammoth bone and neanderthal hair for the strap! You NEED one.... It's Collectable!

Also, it didn't tune itself! We all know guitars that don't tune themselves are unplayable!

Re: Great excuse, Gibson!
I'm thinking Henry saw the Fender thing for the video game and decided to try and one-up them without realizing that Fender designed theirs for a game.

Re: Great excuse, Gibson!
If they wanted to do something really revolutionary, why didn't they expand on some of these actual revolutionary concepts?
Putting digital effects in the guitar body is nothing new or revolutionary. All that does is limit your choices of effects to what they provide and market that is compatible with their system. Its like genetically engineering a new coffee bean that has cream and sugar built-in just so you don't have to add it after pouring a cup.

Re: Great excuse, Gibson!
well, this thing will still be more useful than a Mac.
... jokes aside, I can really see Weird Al playing the Firebird X. or Slash. yeah... ![]() PS. Someone 'shop the "son, i am disappoint" pic to say "GIBson, I am disappoint", with a pic of Les Paul.
